They do sell marmalade here but it is not something I'd use having tried it.

@R181 You haven’t tried the right marmalade. I didn’t like marmalade until I tried ginger marmalade. Mind you, I like all things ginger: tea both black and green, ginger biscuits, ginger bread, pickled ginger and candied ginger.

Kumquat Marmalade is fantastic. Unfortunately it isn't sold in stores. My wife and I make our own, when our tree produces enough to do canning.

On the few occasions i have steeled myself to try it, i find it to be horrible.

I tried the Vegemite, on Asiago Sourdough Bread. I spread it very thin, like everyone says, and didn't really taste much, other than it being a little more savoury than usual. Not distasteful.

Ok, back to back taste tests. I started with Marmite, then Vegemite. One bite each, until both were finished. So far, I think the Vegemite is the least off-putting of the two. So, I will continue the taste tests, until my palete becomes adjusted.

Tomorrow I start making my first batch of homemade marmite. I have been collecting left over sour dough trimmings and crusts for several months and my freezer is now full so tomorrow we are go!
