I normally use gel on my hair and I'm considering pomade. Ideally I'd like it to be easy to work through my hair hold well and give a nice shine to last through the day. With such an array to choose from I'm looking for suggestions.
I'm considering
Reuzel pink
Dapper Dan Deluxe
Layrite super shine cream
Morgan's Firm hold
Lockhart goon grease
Am I on the right lines with any of those?
It depends on whether you want oil base or water. Each come with their good points and bad!
Oil base gives a really nice shine and is tolerable to wet weather and tends to remain slick, however it can cause oily stains and residue on clothing and pillows etc
Water based can also give a very good shine. Apply it the lightly towelled hair and it will go slick shiny all day Downside if it rains it will wash out!
I have been using Layrite original pomade "on my 4th "Yellow" tub. It is a water based medium hold and medium shine pomade that when I lightly towelled my hair and apply to,
Pompadours, jelly rolls, slick backs and shiny, no problem but stay away from Layrite's super shine cream and Reuzel pink. You need to use a lot to get a decent effect or control!!!
Lockhart goon grease - oil- is also good but it contains Petrolatum, Microcrystalline wax and gives a Firm/heavy hold.
I have never tried Dapper Dan Deluxe or Morgans sorry!
