Hair pomade

Like you my hair has become unruly - based on the previous posts and not wanting anything oily, I went with Layrite original and used it today for the first time. It does what you want in terms of controlling fluffiness although I’m not too keen on the smell. Being grey and using just a little means I don’t get a wet look, but that’s OK for me. It’s something I’ll probably continue to use - even when I revert to the usual short cut.
I read a few reviews (Pankhurst?) and went for Bed Head Slick Trick and L'Oréal Homme Matt. Just tried the slick trick and it is OK. Light but decent hold, a little sticky with a decent shine. I'll try the L'Oréal tomorrow..

On humid or wet days I use a little pomade rather than cream or gel. I do not need a lot of control (I don't really style just let it curl). I generally use water based unless I am shampooing the following day. For days when I will not be shampooing the following day I have Layrite Super Shine (if your only using a little it's not super shiny) though some prefer the original and Shear Revival Crystal Lake. Pre-shampoo I currently have Jack Black Wax Pomade.

The L'Oréal is fairly crap TBH. Sticky, difficult to wash out, no hold and is more sheen than Matt. 👎

hey okay so some beard products can cost more just because it's got the word beard in it, for example you could get any regular hair oil, whether it be argan, coconut oil, olive oil etc and use that in your beard say for example between £5-£10 as an example for say 100ml but then you'd come across a beard oil which would essentially be the same thing but you'd get like 30 ml instead

So I use beard oils, beard butter and beard balm, which I do buy but mostly make myself

so I need to pick your brains as I know nothing about waxs, pomade etc, what would be the best equivalent to beard balm?

Beard balm is in a nutshell beeswax, shea butter, hair oils and essential oil, however main ingredient is beeswax, obviously the more in it the stronger the hold

Also if you can recommend any beard butter alternatives that would be great too thanks

I love all the small British brand Apothecary87. I particularly love the mid strength/hold vanilla and mango clay pomade they do, they call it a hybrid? It’s so nice I’ve had people actually sniff my head! Their stronger hold grease pomade is amazing as well and smells of vanilla and marshmallow.
All the uppercut range is excellent too.

Few months ago, I bought some things from G&C and they give me small freebie - 15ml tin of Hey Joe hair pomade.

My hair has their own life, and its pretty hard for me to keep it just like want. I try lot of different hair styling products with more or less succes.

So I give a chance to pomade. Wow! It works! Really works! So I bought a bigger tin. Now m hair looks just the way,i like it.

Do any of you use hair pomade and which one?
Never used Hey Joe, but I have recently used Dapper Dan's (don't give me no FOP!) Matte Clay, also Ruezel's Clay pomade and their green and pink pomades!
I'd recommend Reuzel red I you're not into oil based greasy products (amazingly taming on my hair), it washes out easy just like the Clay!

Anyone tried Templeton Tonics black kraken or Oasis clay. It's one of the best water base clays I've tried that's available retail.

I’d be vaguely interested in this. I just keep on coming back to American Crew Fiber which - for me - just works.

I've stopped using American crew the formulation has changed too much. Reuzel is now what I'd say what American crew was in the 00s
