B&R. Before I get to the shave lets talk about its design. When loaded (Polsilver) the adjustable does stop at 1. The finish is very good. The polished head does pick up scratches, some light scratches visible on collection. Nothing sinister. Knurling could be deeper allowing for more grip. Again this is IMO and without knowing the price it is hard to place. If I were to put a price on its head (without the large B&R print on the top cap) based on finish and final results, I would put it just below £100 similar finish to the Ikon and just below the ATT range. Similar shave to the progress/blackbird (latter without the learning curve/angle specificity) Again not knowing material costs or labour this is purely a guesstimate and what I would be prepared to pay.
The base plate. I was shaving with the razor and something felt very familiar. Immediately I thought Blackbird regarding face feel. The corners are sharp which IMO adds to the design, making it more distinct, like the Blackbird (V.2) no sharp edges are felt when shaving. The shape of the base plate is more pronounced or raised than the blackbird but has a very similar shape. The Blackbird is one of my most efficient DE razors and the B&R is very efficient too.
Just one shave in, but what I don't fully understand as of yet is the varying degrees of aggression. Up to 5 this razor is extremely mild on my face, less aggressive than the EJ89. Get to 6 and its more aggressive than a Progress on 5. Aggression in this context is a scraping feel as opposed to greater blade feel. Comfort is compromised in other words. I don't personally relate aggression to blade exposure as is outlined with many of my straights and DE razors.
So positives are the finishing (dependant on final price), efficiency up to notch 4/5 before becoming uncomfortable and the balance of the razor.
Negatives (albeit one shave in) overly aggressive not necessarily more efficient beyond notch 5 (could just keep it below this if I owned one). Head size. This is personal to myself again. Owned the Progress passed it on, owned the Digress sold it on. The heads are not overly bulky (I found this to be the case with the Futur) but I prefer slimmer profiled head shapes and have many that are more efficient with a greater degree of comfort. The B&R is not the slimmest, from memory very similar to the Progress. Perhaps more efficient over the same number of passes, perhaps due to the base plate shape and tighter tolerances.
I will have a couple more uses then will post it to the next in line.

I had another shave with the B&R today. This time with an Astra SP razor set to 5. Firstly a few pictures just to show the lovely workmanship:
I find the razor to be very smooth and efficient up to number 5. Similar to a Progress with a face feel somewhere between the Progress and a Blackbird (shown below).
The head is of a decent size. I don't find it as bulky as the Futur but the Pils which is equally as wide feels less bulky. The Progress also felt less bulky. Enjoyed my time with the razor but as with most things shaving related YMMV and this prototype is not for me. Thank you for the opportunity. Razor is ready to be posted to Carl tomorrow morning.
