Looks like our fridge freezer is dying and will need replacement. As it’s part of a fitted kitchen, sorting it will be a pain, not to mention expensive.

I suppose I shouldn’t moan too much, it has lasted nearly 20 years but it’s a cost we don’t need.

You never know when you really need a fridge freezer, regardless of the cost you don’t need in your house,

I know what you mean about the fitted kitchen problem Steve. They look lovely until something needs a swap out. We had problems with our washer dryer and after the call out it wouldn't fit back into its slot. Pain in the bottom 🙄

Good luck getting it sorted 🙏 Hope you get a good swap and a good price.

I have called someone who does kitchen appliance stuff for me for advice on your behalf. The most common issue on fridge freezers is the compressor which is not a DIY repair and may even need attention by a gas certified engineer (which he isn't) but the cost is £400+ which is well on the way to a new fridge freezer. He also made the point that new fridge freezers are much more efficient than a 20 year old model. I asked him if there was a brand that he could recommend and his only comment was not Flavia or Beko.

The installation process might not be as big a pain as you fear. I had to replace a dishwasher in a fitted kitchen and the seller treated this as normal practice with standard sizing of most appliances. The retailer that I use is selling a Bosch fridge freezer at £699 or a Hisense at £399, fitted and working.
