Turned out that the CCTV showed the mirrors were intact when the car was parked. It turned out that they had put the car through a car wash which knocked off the mirror cover, when they saw it was missing they phoned to say that they wanted £220 to replace it.Taken my car in for an oil change into main dealers, you would not believe the push back from the dealer that I had for wanting an oil change, anyway a different story.
The screen washer bottle was also leaking badly, to be dealt with under warranty.
Real issue is that the garage has phoned to say that it needs a door mirror cover which will be £220, completely missing.
I am certain that the mirror covers were there when I took the car in at 7.30, my car was the first one in Customer Parking, I left in a taxi around 7.50. The dealers are in a modern building with loads of CCTV, if the cover was missing as I drove in I will pay their bill, they are looking through the CCTV now but it seems odd that they have taken over an hour to do so and have not been back.

Roofing contractor is on the roof now, he has lifted some tiles and the batons are completely rotten caused by some cracked tiles which has let rainwater in and the lining material didn't allow the batons to dry out naturally. I was shocked to see how rotten they were.A damp spot, small admittedly, that keeps coming back when it rains in the plaster of an upstairs room

Roof has been checked by a good roofer, especially the ridge tiles, pointing looks perfect, the eaves are very deep, guttering looks good and the end caps look square.
Its a puzzle
Sorry to hear about your roofing troubles. As they say it is part of the joys of owning a house. Nothing for it but to grit your teeth and pay.Roofing contractor is on the roof now, he has lifted some tiles and the batons are completely rotten caused by some cracked tiles which has let rainwater in and the lining material didn't allow the batons to dry out naturally. Patch new lining is going in today along with the batons which have been cut back to good wood and a piece put in, covered by replacement tiles.
Not looking forward to hearing the price when he comes down from the roof.
A new roof will be needed when the spring weather arrives, this will mean scaffolding around the house and new lining, batons and tiles, but it is needed so I need to shut up and pay up

I have home insurance but I think insurers would regard this type of incident as wear and tear, they like to protect you solely for losses that are sudden and unforeseen![]()
Do you have home insurance to take the pressure off your back?
That all sounds very nasty pocket wise. Don’t they appreciate you’re a well known member of a shaving forum? Don’t they take into account shaving related acquisition disorders? Not very PC of them, indeed, most discriminatory. Seriously though, hope all goes well. I have a sneaky feeling that such issues are in my future…Roofing contractor is on the roof now, he has lifted some tiles and the batons are completely rotten caused by some cracked tiles which has let rainwater in and the lining material didn't allow the batons to dry out naturally. I had no idea of the scale of the problem. I had seen a damp patch in the corner of the plaster on one bedroom, about the size of your hand and assumed it was a ridge tile, a roofer said that they were fine but cleared a lot of moss from them on the basis that the moss might be acting as a conduit but the damp continued. That all sounds very nasty pocket wise. The outcome of all this was a bit of a surprise. It's getting hot or it's my idea?
