Yes, you're 100% correct... Many years ago, during WW1, they were called Mountain Police. Back in the olden day's, they do a lot of horse back riding through the mountain forest, where a lot of Canadians in the forest were totally confused. Mountain Police vs Mounted Police.
I remember them being referred to as "Mounties".

They were never known as the "Mountain Police".

I was told by my aunty that her grandmother who was born in Canada. She wasn’t born in a city, she was born half Canadian Indian/England blood, she was born in an Indian tribe in Canada. It’s a very long story, I can’t explain.

Canadian Indian tribes call them mountain men in strange coat, and they didn’t know they were policemen who searched for wanted criminals.

They were called Mountain Police, don’t believe what you read, Canadian Indian hates media and universities people rewriting their own Canadian history. Who don’t respect Indian tribes from the early mid 1700 to roughly about 1920’s.

Edit:- Indian were killed by white men for many centuries, to take their land from them.

I was aware the Mounted Police was developing in the mid 1800’s.

I’ve spoken to my mother this morning, they were called Mountain Lawman, or Mountain Lawmen. Not Mountain Police.

There are no Indian tribes in Canada only indigenous peoples. One of the indigenous people are known as Metis and are of mixed blood.

I have not seen any reference to the NWP later called RCMP being called Mountain Police but it could be possible.

The wrongs against the indigenous peoples in Canada existed past the 1920s and are still not resolved to this day. I don't know if they will ever be completely resolved to everyone's satisfaction but a process to try to do so is ongoing.

A damp spot, small admittedly, that keeps coming back when it rains in the plaster of an upstairs room

Roof has been checked by a good roofer, especially the ridge tiles, pointing looks perfect, the eaves are very deep, guttering looks good and the end caps look square.

Its a puzzle
Did you check for plumbing pipes, any leaking cavities walls since the roof was checked properly?

Woke up this morning to see frostbite warnings in the forecast. That is not a good thing if you are outside for any length of time and you want very little skin exposed in those conditions. Welcome to the start of winter.

Does your car turning on, under theses conditions?

Keep in mind that frost bite warnings are for exposed skin. When the actual temperature plus the wind chill factored together amounts to -20C iirc or more you have frost bite warnings.

I take two precautions when the actual temperatures are -15C or more and plug my battery maintainer in to keep my gel cell battery topped up and if it the actual temperature gets to -20C or more I also turn on my engine block heater for a couple of hours or more before I need to start the car.

With my older car the use of the block heater was all that was needed but the newer car I have has all kinds of electronic crap which causes a ghost drain on a battery especially as I do not drive as much as before so the need to keep the battery topped up.

On older cars I expected a battery to last about 5 years before needing replacement. I have no idea how long the gel cell battery with a battery maintainer will last.

Sorry for the long explanation but there it is. Long story short, I expect a car to start set up like that at -35C or more and it is in an unheated garage sheltered from the wind.

I would not want another diesel vehicle again because they are even worse to baby through very cold weather.

There is no plumbing in the loft, no tanks at all.

The patch is connected to rainfall, I just cannot see how it is getting in
Well you’ve got moisture and mold coming in from the outside, can you get underneath house? or are you living in a unit?
