Well what did I make of that? Now as everyone knows, the original was a remake of The Seven Samurai - but at least it was slightly novel by changing genre. This film however was pretty much a straight remake complete with all PC boxes ticked - but for trans-gender & donkey-fecker.

But was it any good? It wasn't a bad film, in fact I quite enjoyed it, although I kept thinking of The Three Amigos & Blazing Saddles. 7/10

Well, what do I say about this film? Stone. Cold. Classic.

Yes the mysticism is a bit bobbins, the plot is bonkers and there's a bit of blaxploitation bandwagon-ing , but that is just a few negatives and I counter those with:

Roger Moore in a safari suit
Epic boat chase
Jane Seymour's cleavage
Yaphet Kotto's big bad
Bond shaves with a Schick Injector
Belting theme tune
Bond makes a brew

8.5/10

Ben Hur: 5/10
A mediocre Movie...
I’m assuming this was the recent remake of the classic movie. Am I right?

I’ve seen a couple of new movies recently.
Hidden Figures was better than I expected. Yes, there obviously was some “Hollywood” effect in this historic drama based on true events, but it felt like an important story to tell, nevertheless. 8/10.
Passengers (2016) started out well, and definitely provoked some thoughts about how one would act in any similar circumstances. But the promising beginning lost traction somewhere along the way, and what started out as a movie ended up as something that felt more like a television show. 6/10.

Yes, it's the recent remake.... I think they did a poor job of remaking this Movie, it feels tame.

Silence (2016). This latest Scorsese film clocks in at almost three hours. It was 25 years in the making, so perhaps the duration is not surprising.

There is next to no music in the film. The Japanese actors are especially marvelous — their acting is effortless and very real. I feel like this movie leaves you with more questions than answers, and there’s nothing wrong with that. It begs the viewer to consider various questions about religion and society; about doing what is expected, and doing what is right. I found it to be heavy, but quite gripping. 8/10.

Imperium - Harry Potter is a FBI agent who goes undercover with white supremacists. Pretty good, ticks all the usual undercover film boxes, gives a bit of depth to the bad guys and to be fair to Daniel Radcliffe he gives a good performance and you stop seeing the boy wizard very quickly.

You Only Live Twice - The whole ninja training and disguise thing is bonkers such as 6ft2 Connery getting by with a dodgy haircut, dodgier eyebrows and just stooping slightly to blend in seamlessly with the locals but it's all good fun. The panning shot of the rooftop fight/chase scene is fantastic.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service - Been doing the Bonds in chronological order so the switch of lead is a little jarring at first but I soon got into the swing of it and really enjoyed a slightly different and arguably more nuanced Bond. Would of been interesting to see a couple more Lazenby Bonds but not to be. Plus points for the ruffled shirt & kilt combo, bobsleigh chase, Irma Bunt and the gun firing belly slide.

And that ending....
