I have used the El Caballero Bay Rum Shaving Soap first time this morning

First impressions are the soap is similar to OSP soap in appearance and smell. It has the same sort of fatty smell that OSP has. My skin doesn't always get on with fatty soap's so will see how I get on.

I have started to face lather more so tried this today resulting in a slick lather but was a little unstable I will use my Maseto brush tomorrow and see if lather improves.

So far impression is a good soap but not quite as good as Penhaligons or Wickham 1912 in either scent or performance

I've had worse lather but it's certainly not as good as a Whickhams or Penhaligons soap

I used the soap again this morning and this time I Bowl lathered the results were slightly better but still only okay I'll get it posted on asap but will be Monday as I'm working this weekend

I too picked up on the fatty smell from this soap which puts me off. Also I prefer a sweeter scent to a Bay Rum and this is closer to Mystic Waters Bay Rum, which may be a good thing for many but not me. The tub is a little small compared to the 100mm tub that many soaps now come in but it's a quality double-walled tub and the label is quality.

The soap provided an incredibly thick, dense and slick lather that I had zero issues with on the first pass but it lacked any residual slickness so it was not possible for me to pass again over the same area without re-lathering - none of my best soaps have that issue.

The Play-Doh (fatty) smell and lack of residual slickness would stop me buying this but if other than that it's a great soap.
