Pass Around Guerrilla by Wolfman Razors

Gents, I'm not part of the passaround but I recently got the Guerrilla and I thought it would be useful to comment here. I don't get on with my Guerrilla, I find it very inefficient and mild. I've had it for a month and I still haven't had a good BBS. I very much prefer my Timeless which gives me great shaves with no irritation, whereas the Guerrilla annoys me and I end up putting too much pressure and getting irritation. It reminds me of the Feather AS-D2 although it's a bit more efficient. I'm now trying to trade it and if that doesn't succeed I'll sell it...

The shave was very nice indeed. I’ve never used Perma Sharp blades before and in the Guerrilla they were incredibly smooth and efficient. I suppose the question is do I want to buy one. Hmm, perhaps. I already own the OC and SB version of the Wolfman and to the naked eye the head geometry looks very similar. My only criticism of the Guerrilla is the handle. I appreciate it makes it cheaper and quicker to produce to keep up with supply and demand but it’s a bit too short, chunky and basic for me. Easily resolved of course but that would incur a greater cost. Other than that it shaves very nicely and in comparison to similarly priced razors it’s finish quality is totally up to scratch. In summary I’d say it’s a great option for someone who doesn’t want to pay aftermarket Wolfman prices.

My opinion on this razor hasn’t changed. It’s nice. Shaves well, looks nice enough and gets the job done with ease. If I hadn’t snagged my Wolfmans I’d more than likely buy this razor and at the moment that’s the only thing that’s holding me back. I’d advise anyone to get one if they aren’t sure.

The Guerrilla arrived safely today, thanks @Mikey J.

First impressions are excellent, it's beautifully made and finished. There are some machining marks inside the head, this doesn't bother me at all but does seem to be a source of upset for some. Externally the finish is beautiful, sitting it next to my PILS it does not look out of place and I would rate the finish as better than my ATT and almost on a par with the PILS. The tolerances are very tight and the handle screws on very smoothly. Speaking of the handle, I love it. It feels very comfortable with the length and girth (stop sniggering at the back!) but the hollow construction makes it a nice weight. I loved my UFO Goliath apart from the weight. It really is hard to think of this as being someone's budget option, even from Wolfman.

Blade loading. Yes. I have no idea why the studs for the blade are not on the cap like everyone else's, loading a blade isn't that bad, and as I typically only change blades once a week it's not going to be a deal-breaker, but if I could change one thing it would be to move the studs onto the cap. It does however hold the blade precisely and very firmly and clamps it just back from the edge, a trait I prefer in a razor as it gives the blade a very rigid grip.

This is one razor that I'm excited about trying out, although I suspect I'm going to want to buy one!

First shave with the Guerrilla and I loved it. The handle provides sure grip and I love the dimensions combined with the reduced weight from a solid steel handle. The angle was intuitive, the razor was very smooth and efficient, and the handling of the razor just felt right. The end result was an extremely close and comfortable shave.

So far I want one!

The Guerrilla continues to impress, as last night this thing is smooth with a capital smoo. I was able to fling it around with gay abandon and the results were excellent.

I have also given some thought to the blade posts being on the base, this does mean that the blade and bar can only be perfectly aligned. TBH the tolerances are so close I can’t see that ever being a problem anyway, and I don’t know if that was the thinking behind it, but it is a benefit. Honestly, I have nothing negative to say about this razor.

Last night's shave was the same as the one before, excellent. This razor does like a shallow angle so if you're one of those who prefers to scrape the whiskers off don't expect good results. :wink:

So, what can you take away from my experience with the Guerrilla? I would have been so sad to see it go that I've bought one. It might not have the customisation options or OCD finish (in a good way) of a WR1, but they're available, affordable and a damn fine razor. The fit and finish is very nice indeed and I actually prefer the slightly heavier head compared to the WR1.

@Paul I believe this is to come to you before it starts its Euro leg, please could you PM me your address? Please note that I will not be able to post it until Friday because of work. Thank you very much for the opportunity to try out a razor I'd been curious about for a few months before I bought it. :)

I posted the Guerrilla back to Paul this morning. I would have been really sad to see it go, however thanks to a good deal from @carbold I have one of my very own to fill the gap that it would have left.

Sorry @Shavepm I missed this request. At the moment the pass around finishes with a UK member & as Euro tracked postage is quite expensive I think I will end this pass around with them.

Better idea! I do have another Guerrilla so if any other European member would like to join please post here. @Shavepm please confirm you would still like to try this & I will add you after ManicDee.
