Im covid positive without knowing it. Im coughing right next to you.

Is it better doing it with or without a mask?
If you're next to me possibly better without as the mask will direct the exhalation out of the sides.

and when will people realise that masks / face cover are almost useless. Oh, look at me, I am wearing a mask so I am ok Jack!! Yes - may help someone spreading it in close proximity but otherwise - BIG false sense of security. Sorry Randy , bit of UK slang in there. :D
You'd think by now people would realise that wearing a mask is not for their own personal well being/security but to try and limit them spreading Covid 19 to others. Every little bit of prevention helps in trying to keep this pandemic manageable. I believe not wearing a mask indicates a certain amount of disregard for other people's well being and is not very macho to boot.

Ok. So, much better without any mask.

And then why do I spend my money on them? Psychological reasons that I'm doing my best?

+1. . especially the last bit. The RULES that are now coming in for public transport , I will respect, IF I ever travel on them. I believe we all have a duty to protect not only ourselves but others too. Masks though are purely to protect others from ourselves. Other than that you may as well stick one on yer willy and whistle what ever your favourite tune may be. Wife agrees and she is top doggy NHS 'in the know'.

Considering nearly half of all infected have been asymptomatic, wearing a mask to protect others from ourselves is as good a reason as it gets for wearing a mask in enclosed spaces. Those originally saying masks weren't worth bothering with need, to quote Billy Connolly, a good foot up the arse.

I thought that I could protect me from the others when wearing my mask.
That's why I mainly use it because Im not coughing, or sneezing in front of anyone.

On the contrary, tons of animals here have decided to get into my taxi unmasked and start coughing or closing the back windows.

Last time I transferred a pig which was coughing without a mask and told me not to worry because this cough comes from cigarette he usually smokes.(Oh definitely sir, my Android Covid Tester I installed showed that it is a smoker`s cough)

And that is only the peak of the iceberg.

Hi Bob,

Yeah, unfortunately many people don't have the same rational science believing opinion and concern for others as you do, and that's one reason for someone not wearing a mask in a potentially dangerous situation to others around them.

Then you got them politicians who are either ascairt of reprimand by other party members, or just don't believe in science or think it's all fake news. There's also some who purposely endanger people because it suits their cause...…like reopening businesses too early or over riding local stringent enforcement. Yeah, the money's more important than any lives lost.......obviously.

These non mask wearing people are dangerous but sadly the USA government is right now not interested in the curtailing of this pandemic Bad timing for this virus to hit. . Forum members should be skeptical of anyone arguing against wearing masks in public places like stores. It ain't good here, Bob.

And to other readers, y'all should also be skeptical when reading about negative opinions regarding COVID testing. From what I've seen, there's 2 different kinds of tests with different times for results, one for currently positive exposure(swab) and one for past exposure (blood). No scientific reason for being against testing, but certainly a political or simply bad hearted one to skip it. Yeah, we got at least one member with some strange kinda agenda.

You know, it is a terrible thing watching a neighbour going through what the US is doing right now and has been doing so for the last 3 1/2 years. It is kind of like having a crack house in the neighbourhood and hoping it does not spread to other houses. We have enough of those types of citizens and politicians ourselves and they do not need any encouragement from south of the border.

Yeah, this point in time is the result of goals and ideals being given over to one party, with no real teeth in opposition from the other party doing any good. Mr Trump has finally surrounded himself with almost all like minded allies in crucial positions and the Senate is going along with everything.....it's the best of times!!

Oh, deep breath. Not only was Mr Trump elected president............well lemme just say this man was the guy who won the nomination for the face of that party......the figurehead who represented em the best. Anyway, he was also recently acquitted in an impeachment trial that was something to see. Just made him stronger and even less likely to anyone speaking against him as you can see.

Normally I'm not affected much when it comes to things like 'entitlements (retirement funds)' being excluded, at least until now. Yeah, that's a target for those lawmakers running these times also.

Mods, please excuse my borderline taboo typing. Usually I stay out of certain subjects, but this virus thing is not........nobody knows what it'll end up causing. Heh, I wonder if one definite proven permanent COVID symptom was male impotence/female sterile kinda thing if caught.....think people might be more aware and concerned?

We all had Covid type symptoms before it supposedly was here, my wife’s colleague had same symptoms as did a few of her colleagues. Wife’s colleague was anti body tested, Came back positive for anti bodies, Mrs Northam along with colleagues tested negative. False negs ? Not knowing enough still about Covid ? Good enough testing ? Who knows !
Bit late to the party but my other half had exactly the same. Works in hospital, had a couple weeks off with virus and chest infection. Her colleague with exactly the same symptoms came back positive and she came back negative.
The one comment from SWMBO was that the antibody test doesn't mean you haven't had it, you could have and produced not enough antibodies to be detectable by the test, or false positives/negatives as they're not told the accuracy of the tests...

Too true. I suppose though if you think about it this is a new virus and the test more than likely needs a bit more development.
