Sounds about right! But once broken in I haven't found any better with respect to stuff backbone and tip softness. I had read boar brushes being rubbed on sandpaper, to help split the tips making for a softer experience. it played on my mind but I didn't have the heart to do this with my Mac.

I think there is a better way to break in a boar, it’s a method that involves freezing the brush damp etc.. something I read once, but never tried. Perhaps sandpaper is too aggressive? Gotta try it some time anyway!

No pictures to post of the 2-band D01 flat top after use, but it maintains its shape and doesn't get too crazy in blooming like an old 23mm 3-band D01 I had. It works wonderfully and glad I went that route!

With no disrespect to others, I have read many brush break-in techniques from sand paper to chemicals to hair dryers and I loath them all. I am from the old school....have patience and just use the brush. For me, there is great satisfaction in using the brush and seeing how the knot changes with use...always to the good.

Just a thought.

My description of the ATG brush in 8 words or less ----> WOW.

Soft, right balance of backbone, and sucks up soap. Do not get me started on the ergonomic shaped handle or high quality of finish. I rotate and use another artisan's brush the next day - obvious difference.

Annual event hopefully !

Same. Sandpaper etc just sounds like it has potential to ruin your brush, it will break in with use.
