Are we not allowed to poke fun of minorities, is there a new law I don't know about?
I could understand it if the jokes are racist, homophobic, or about disabled people but they're not.
They are about a minority group who I'm sure can laugh at themselves, as they do about straight people and the people who are offended on their behalf.

Other members felt differently, hence the complaints we've received. It's very simple, stop posting that kind of thing and we won't have a problem. I'm sure you can find something else to laugh at. As a general rule moderator action here is typically in response to content being reported by members, you may wish to bear that in mind.

Chris, I think your moderation is a bit over the top, If you wish to close down the joke section just carry on, I doubt very much you will be buying a ticket for a Ricky Gervais show.

I don't want to close it, I just want people to stop posting content that gets reported to the mods and then gets me moaned at when I act on it.

I don't know what your point is about Ricky Gervais, but I do not take action based on my own opinions, it's when someone is offended by a post and flags it. It's a lose-lose situation moderating the forum, I either fall foul of the offended party(ies) by leaving the post or others by deleting it.

Because it doesn't seem to be sinking in - I deleted the post because complaints were received from other members.

Can I just say, and I hope that I am not the only one, that I would prefer to see the Jokes section to have no objectionable content and in accordance with the forum rules, this was made clear in a recent post by Chris as to what content was unacceptable.

I don't think that this is too much to ask.

So other members found my post of Postman Pat with a bit of blusher on and his cat coming out as gender neutral offensive, I bet you they nearly choked on their lipstick when they saw that.
The fact they found cause to complain about something that is neither hateful, rude or in 99% of peoples eyes... offensive.

I don't see the "phobia" as you put it, where I have I been hateful?

Just because they are offended doesn't make them right.

Come on folks, please. ATG is a shaving forum. We give a bit of freedom and then we get stick for trying to keep the peace. We mods, when moderating, have no personal take on the posts that get reported (well we try not to), we just have to try and keep EVERYONE happy. An impossible task it seems.

Its not fair on the mods to keep having to deal with this constant pushing of the boundaries.

So, I think we will give everyone a chance to decide how this joke section continues over the next couple of days; if we continue to get reported posts, it will be locked down and offending members banned for 7 days.
There are plenty of alternative forums etc where jokes can be posted and shared without offending anyone.

Not having a go at the mods at all, I know you can't do right for doing wrong. To call the posts transphobic is way over the top IMO and a lot of other peoples it seems.

As for banning members for 7 days? I take it I've annoyed some fragile people on here so, whose not to say if I post a totally inoffensive joke they might report it just to get me banned. I think the fact I was threatened with a ban in the open forum could have been better dealt with by a personal message to say so.

If you're referring to this post: https://www.atgshaving.com/threads/any-good-jokes.2858/post-586505 you will see that no names were mentioned, it was a blanket warning that this kind of content is against the rules and will not be tolerated. It was intentionally worded not to single anyone out, it applies to all.
