I once watched an interview with King Harald where the journalist asked whether the King has any favourite meals, upon which he responded that he couldn't tell because then he would get that every time and everywhere. He then went on to add that, after streaks of fancy dinners when travelling, he and the Queen would order fish balls. I am certain he tried to show how "ordinary" he is, as this is a traditional, low cost dinner dish. Obviously, by conveying that he ordered it (from his personal cook), he didn't exactly succeed...

With that in mind, I am not sure if they would be amenable even to pick up the pod, drop it in and press the button :wacky:

No reason apart from being on sale at John Lewis and several vouchers that I need to use up. I used to use an Italian stove pot coffee brewer. Having just spoken to the wife, she pretty much said what has been said. She prefers making her own, said the nespresso is quite strong and pods can become expensive. She apparently didn't like the taste having borrowed one from a friend. So that is that settled. I don't drink enough coffee myself to warrant the purchase.

That is what she suggested, I tried to lean towards a TV. Think the vouchers will be retained for now. Apparently for when the washing machine breaks. Best not leave any hammers lying around :wink: i will try and sell her the coffee machine when we get to JL :)

Good luck! Last time I took SWMBO into the JL in Watford the soft furnishings spend was eye watering considering we just went to get some mugs!

I know the Nespresso isn't exactly the same as a Tassimo, but I have a Tassimo that has not been used for over a year since I bought my Aeropress.

The coffee's cheaper than pods, you can use whichever you like, it's easier to get hold of, no wasting plastic pods etc etc. Plus you can take the Aeropress on holiday with you. TBH you're just much better off without a pod machine.

Not altogether altruistic I'm afraid.
By handing them in I am trying to give Nespresso as little excuse as possible to increase the prices - which would save me money.
But also it would allow me, if they did increase the prices, to express my moral outrage and indignation in letters to the editor, signed Angry of Staffordshire.

This old Delta might have few miles on the clock but she still makes a great cup of coffee.


You have the choice of a Single espresso or my usual Double shot or you can you the pod attachment for "Nespresso"
Pumps out at 15bar & you can steam milk as well.
I used to have a Nespresso model "Pixie" that cost €147
But the Delta cost €45. in a Lidl, two years ago.

We went Off Reservation with our Nespressso the other week. Rather than buy Nespresso pods we saw some by Taylors of Harrogate in Sainsburys. They were a fair bit cheaper than the Nespresso ones so bought a couple of boxes (I think full price was £3 for 10 pods). Mrs did not like the coffee, but I did. Just something to bear in mind if you wanted to save a bit of money on consumables (ha!!) and take a walk on the wild side.
