Also, residual slickness means even more water, maybe you didn't feed enough the Siero beast, in comparison with Milksteak?
I think that building the lather for over 10 minutes and loading the brush for only 30 seconds should be more than enough to properly hydrate the lather. 😉 I pretty much build my lather like Cris (Another Cut Above on YouTube), but the difference is when he stops adding water, I continue to add water. If residual slickness is the one thing you're really focused on, then Barrister and Mann Reserve and Declaration Grooming Milksteak both get my vote.

Not the Excelsior??

Reserve has better residual slickness than Excelsior for me. But Excelsior is easier to work with, you don't get punished as fast and as hard when you overload the brush.
Because the price seems similar I will get a Milksteak. When Maggards will stock it? I will get the cheapest.

Buying a Wholly Kaw soap without trying a sample first, is like playing russian roulette but with only one bullet missing from the chamber. Sri is making improvements though, he's starting to have awesome labels even though the price of his Siero soaps is too high.

Barrister and Mann is going the opposite direction now that they're switching to Parkway jars (basically the ones Stirling uses but in another colour, so a serious downgrade). Still really disappointed about that and Ravish is the first one that has a Parkway jar (more on that here). Wholly Kaw is still using the premium Colt jars which I really like.

But don't fear, Maggard Razors to the rescue. Take a look at this post.
