I never used to like drinking whiskey. But now, it’s pretty much all I have but not exactly regularly or in great quantities.

I do like it peaty and usually with a bit of ginger ale or beer.

I also like the odd pint of cider on occasion, especially if I’m down in Devon and Cornwall.

Somerset is good for Cider too. we stoped off at Sheppys recently and have 10 litres in the garage ! I like cider with my Christmas dinner !

Ledaig 18. If you like peat, have a see what some age and a bit of sherry cask does to it. This was my surprise of the year. I don’t like Tobermory’s unpeated distillate but their peated Ledaig is good stuff. I find their 10 a bit one-note (I’m not that into peat) but the 18 is *chef’s kiss*. From Mull. £80.

It’s worth it!

For context, Lagavulin 16 is within touching distance of £80 these days yet is barely half as good.

Benromach Contrasts: Peat Smoke (Sherry Cask) can probably be found online for £50-55. Similar vein to the Ledaig 18 with less time in cask, a different style of distillate, and Speyside rather than island ageing.

Mrs. BnT and I have a camp in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains of upstate NY. We have great neighbors... not too close by, but.. and Saturday afternoon we had one of the neighbors and his bride-to-be, over for a visit. He's a Veteran of the war in Iraq, and is a very nice gent.
He brought up a bottle of whisky from a small batch craft distiller in Michigan, USA. I've sampled not all, but a fair number of Scottish Single Malts. The bottle he brought was not a single malt, but a blend of four grains, the "Sliver Cross" version. I must say that it opened my eyes... It was excellent! Extremely smooth and flavorful.
I have to limit my alcohol intake now, but I plan on purchasing a bottle for myself ... when I feel the urge for a "wee dram..."

I've always liked HP 12.

I’m not as well versed as you fine gentlemen. But, I do enjoy a pour with a cigar. Currently, Woodford Reserve Double Oaked, Smoke Wagon Uncut Unfiltered and Jack Single Barrel Select or Proof and Maple are favorites.

Heard about this one about 2 years ago. It blew up in the SW and they ran the prices through the ceiling. Kind of a pain to get unless you deal with some price gouging online. Very good pour.
