Been considering a trip to Bicester Village. But queuing up that long ……… not too keen. Is it always like that ?
It was because there was a star event yesterday and this weekend. Upto %70 of at some stores. My watch was £1195 (rrp was £4450) and I got a Gortex jacket from The North Face for £85!!
I only live a 10 minute walk from there so it’s easy for me

Got sick of that jank 80s aftermarket bracelet it came with so ordered something more suitable from Japan, whilst I wait for that to arrive I've stuck it on a leather strap, case shape actually reminds me of the new planet ocean range, 70s-tastic I suppose.

This is basically my way of dipping a toe in the Grand Seiko pool without spending a lot... This is part of Seiko's premium quartz offerings from the late 70s, they came in three grades; King Quartz (+/-20 seconds per year) Grand Quartz (+/-10 seconds per year) and Superior Quartz (+/-5 seconds per year) this was Seiko showing off - For reference the Swiss quartz movements from the same time offered +/-60 seconds per year accuracy lol.

They came at a price though, in 1978 one of these would set you back ¥100,000 which was equivalent to around $500, adjusted for inflation that is $2500 today. Interestingly in 1978 apparently the Rolex Submariner was also $500 :giggle: so that's the league these were playing in. Now available on ebay for a pittance, I paid £200 for this one in serviced condition with new crystal and gaskets, bit of a bargain I think.
