French-made, horn-handled shaving brush, "Le Figaro", not Plisson. And in mint /unused condition. I have seen a few wood/metal Le Figaro brushes, but never one with a horn handle or badger loft. Note the date on the box: 26 January 1959, which is sooo close to my own date of birth it's uncanny. It also provides good research information. Cost back then? 2,000 Old French Francs, or about 38 Euros in today's money.

Does anyone know ANYTHING about the Le Figaro brand? Who made them? I have researched, but unsuccessfully.

Yes, quite a few about over the years of this type. I was just surprised to find the horn-handle one. I like horn, you see. There are other horn handles of similar shape, also French but no specific maker, and claimed to be from the 80s, but I have my doubts about that. I think they are not as nice as mine though. Let me see if I can find them again.

Same style of handle as mine?

Among the ones I saw, small sizes had facetted horn handles, large ones rounded like Plisson's but simpler design (two parts instead of Plisson's three - no bottom disk - and no screw-off lower section like Plisson, glued instead). Similar to the above in post No 719. Also no distinctions between between different badger hair types - two-band, three-band etc. all mixed together in same box (I think Plisson always marketed their HMW separately).

A final try of Habit Rouge for me... Not a fan of the EDT so prbably folly but giving the EDP a chance this time. Notino had a great deal where they dispatch it along with a 1ml sample of the same so if I don't like it I can send it back unopened at minimal loss - What a great idea!
