I purchased one new in Brussels, decades ago. The seller ( a specialist shaving shop now disappeared) had a selection of about 20, all horn handled badgers and a variety of sizes including very large 28mm. No packaging (small artisan?) I sold it a few years later (regret), l always thought it was a Plisson wannabe and I eventually got myself a Plisson ( a lot more money!). I have no more info but I’ll try and research!
Same style of handle as mine? Really interesting!! Turns out my brother has one, but only part horn (lower half is plastic) with coarse-looking-hog or hair bristles. I don't think Le Figaro was a specific maker, but labelled different brushes, whoever they are/were. No decent reseaches possible, therefore.
This one might even have trimmed hairs to give shape to it, but I won't be able to tell until I receive it.
It arrived today. So very nice with minimal and very fine surface scratches evident. These gold Gillettes have a very thin plastic coating on the thin plating, so polishing is NEVER advised.This: a Gillette Popular #46, gold-plated 1939. It will come with the white bakelite case but it is missing one blade case. I hope to acquire one some time. When I get it (hope it is all packed carefully) I will display it here. I have a few other Populars, but not the 46. Excuse the picture quality: it is the seller's, not mine.

Yes, on some of the gold Gillettes: a thin layer of lacquer.

Indeed, yes, my brother has a Figaro razor (of a different type again, seen below) in a case. He has a Le Figaro brush, too, seen next to the case but acquired separately. It's a small, hair-splitting point that "Figaro" is not precisely "Le Figaro", and the font used on brushes and razors/sets are different. It's a close call and hard to say if the same people made the brushes, but my feeling is that they may not be. Time will tell!
