The Timeless box is now with me and I had a really interesting first face and head shave this evening.
I decided to use a Feather blade straight off as this allows me to gauge the maximum aggression of a razor straight away, and I started off using the 0.68 gap scalloped baseplate and cap, together with the knurled handle on my face. On the first pass I found that the razor felt a bit rough and didn't particularly enjoy it. I switched to the SB baseplate and smooth cap for the second pass and the razor felt as if it has been transformed into a very efficient and smooth shaving machine.
I never usually do a third pass with a Feather blade (due to potential irritation issues) with most razors and the only other razor I've been able to successfully do this with has been my Blackbird. I decided to experiment to see if the top-cap style made any difference to the shave and did notice a small difference between using the scalloped and smooth top-caps with the SB baseplate. The scalloped top-cap felt rougher whilst the smooth top-cap and SB baseplate combination worked like a dream.
I always shave with an identical combination of WTG, XTG and ATG on each pass when shaving my face, so I know that the difference in smoothness cannot be accounted for by anything other than the razor itself.
Onto the head shave. Again I usually only do a two-pass head shave and on this occasion I found myself doing three (1 x WTG and 2 x ATG/WTG combinations) switching between a couple of baseplate and top-cap combinations. The 0.95 gap SB baseplate with smooth top-cap was brilliant in this respect. It felt very smooth and efficient. I would liken it to having the smoothness of an ATT S1 and the efficiency of an ATT H1. Whilst, it was great, I can't say the same thing about the 0.95 scalloped head. It again felt noticeably rougher and nowhere near as enjoyable to use, especially given the nick it gave me when shaving over a mole (which, interestingly only tends to occur when I've used aggressive and relatively rough razors, such as a R41 and H1, for example, in the past).
All-in-all, this has been a great, irritation-free, first shave with the 0.95 SB baseplate, smooth top-cap and knurled handle combination feeling great in use. I didn't enjoy the scalloped head anywhere near as much and the Pineapple handle was a huge disappointment. It was terrible to use and will be going straight back in the box. I am surprised, though, at the relatively poor performance of the 0.68 baseplate. Before using the razor, this would have been my first choice based upon the usual sort of blade gap I prefer in a razor when face shaving as I tend to prefer milder razors on the whole, however it was trumped in every respect by the 0.95 gap plates this evening.
I'm definitely looking forward to trying out the OC tomorrow and will be using a 7 O'Clock Yellow blade in the razor as I have only found one razor which will truly tame this blade (a Wolfman OC) and I'm hoping that the Timeless will be able to do the same.

Another great 3-pass shave today and I'm pleased to have found another razor which tames a 7 O'Clock Yellow really nicely.
I tried out the 0.95 OC baseplate and found that the rounding of the teeth gives a nice and smooth surface much more so than any other OC razor I've tried. If anything, this baseplate reminds me of a Myatt Daymark I used to own. It's ever so slightly smoother than an ATT S2 and really has presented me with something of a dilemma as my wife is going to get me a Timeless as a Christmas present and it looks like I'm going to have to choose between the OC and SB baseplate (unless I decide to fund a second plate myself).
I tried the Pineapple handle again (and didn't like it again - it definitely won't be making an appearance in my final shave with this razor on Monday). I also compared the scalloped and smooth top-caps with the OC baseplate and again found the scalloped top-plate gave a slightly rougher shave.
I'm working a music festival over the weekend, so I'm going to have a good 2.5 days of growth to mow down in my final shave with this razor on Monday, when I'll be doing a direct comparison between the 0.95 OC and SB plates in combination with the smooth top-cap and knurled handle. Then it's onto the Asylum pass-around razor which arrived today.

I compared the 0.95 SB and OC baseplates, coupling them with the smooth top cap and knurled handle (with a used 7 O'Clock Yellow blade). The result was that the SB felt slightly smoother than the OC and the OC was slightly more efficient (but rougher) than the SB. This cements my conclusion that the 0.95 SB baseplate and smooth top cap give the smoothest shave compared to the other combinations I tried. It's interesting that the plainest combination has given me the best results whilst the more aesthetic combinations (scalloped head with scalloped baseplates) have not. It's certainly a case of function over form in my case. I certainly now know what I'll be getting for Christmas.

As you probably know, I already have a 0.95 OC with scalloped cap and short knurled handle. I have been using this combination for 2 weeks. I initially found it rough and aggressive, then as I got used to the razor and took on some suggestions from this forum, I ended up having very good shaves with little irritation. However I feel I have to be extra careful when shaving as you can easily get nicks. I get BBS in 2 passes and touch ups (2 day growth), minimum pressure applied.

Now, I got the razors yesterday and the combination I tried this morning was the short handle, scalloped cap and 0.95 scalloped head. Astra SP blade as usual, and 2 day growth. I immediately felt that the scalloped head is smoother than the OC, less aggressive but also less efficient. I can shave a lot faster without worrying too much about getting nicks, but it does require more work and more passes than the OC. I ended up applying more pressure than I would with the OC, resulting in a close shave but some irritation.

Now, I got the razors yesterday and the combination I tried this morning was the short handle, scalloped cap and 0.95 scalloped head. Astra SP blade as usual, and 2 day growth. I immediately felt that the scalloped head is smoother than the OC, less aggressive but also less efficient. The advice that I was given several years back was beard reduction as opposed to immediate removal. This stopped myself shaving over the same area multiple times without lather, improved my technique and forced me to understand my beard growth. Now I don't religiously map out my stubble growth direction but go for a WTG and XTG pass, which with decent technique leaves a very close shave. Everyone to their own, however, with the the OC I use no pressure, only the weight of the razor. It is a fixed head and super efficient so pressure IMO would be a negative attribute to the shave, even at a minimum.
I always consider the open comb as a comb. Light passes through the hair to direct as opposed to pressing on the scalp to direct hair pattern. Pressure results in scraping which in turn causes irritation.

For some reason I was convinced that the 0.68 was a very mild razor head but I honestly did not notice much difference compared to the 0.95 scalloped head.
I think the big step change comes between OC and scalloped head regardless of the gap.
It did require more effort and passes compared to the 0.95 though, but they are close. Perhaps I would notice more difference with a longer beard
