Summer Heat

It's currently 32 in Carlisle, happily I'm at work today and the office has air-con. Thank goodness it's going to start cooling down this evening, we have the bedroom windows open and shutters closed to keep the sun out.

Had to give my archery a miss last night, it was showing 27 on the thermometer in the car and that was just too damn hot to be in a field with no shade. :(

Hope your daughter mends quickly!
Enjoy your “break“ from work :)
Cheers she’s feeling better today, keeping cool and well watered. Well first three weeks will be a break and from there it will be a mix of getting ready for the new teaching year. New Schemes Of Work for tutorial and the Employment Action Project I teach.

Aye it’s warm and we Scots generally aren’t built for it. It helps if you’re an outside kind of chap with a naturally dark complexion but I’m still slathered in factor 50 and drinking like a racehorse.

I took on the monumentous task of walking down the garden to the wee hammock between the plum trees and by heck! I’ve made it! That’s it for effort today.

The current picture here which is probably chilly in comparison:

Mrs. chazt and I visited UK exactly three years ago (July 19-31, 2019). Besides it being one of the most wonderful trips we’d ever taken, it was also memorable for the intense heat. We were in London from 19-21 (must get back to spend more time exploring!). My cousin has lived in London for over 40 years (aside: imagine what a Brooklyn born and raised girl living in London for over 40 years sounds like… that’s her).

When we walked into her beautiful home, I was dragging my heels big time. It was so hot! She welcomed us in and said, “come in, come in, isn’t nice and cool in here?” It wasn’t. I walked straight to her kitchen and put my head in the freezer. We learned that air conditioning is quite rare in much of UK. We visited England, Scotland and Wales. If memory serves, some of the hotels’ common areas were air conditioned, but frankly the most effective air conditioning we remember was on the tour bus.

The NY Times reported yesterday that air conditioner sales were recently up over 500% from the same time last year.

Is the 43.6 temp the actual temp and it feels like 37 temp because there is little humidity? Here they give the actual temp and say it feels like a higher temp with the humidex calculated in.
That's from the outside sensor hooked up to my central heating. No idea if it's measuring humidity as well.
