Things are looking Good. Thought you might be interested in my little fixtures so I get consistent surface measurements from all the parts. So far they are all within spec, and a great match.

The definition and smoothness are very nicely controlled. Hard to think these parts are machined. The engraving is really nice.

Still want to quantify some elements, but I don't see any issues yet.

More than anything, I'm happy for you. It's been clear the stress this has placed on you ask you've strived for a great product for your customers. Don't want to count chickens at this stage, but let's hope the current trend continues!

Can somebody please help me put my tongue back in my mouth? Matron? Anyone?

Dribble and drool!

I know how wonderfully a Hone shaves so if there was a short handle, things could get dangerous….

They look great and the lettering somehow clearer than on my other two Hones, though I’m sure it’s just looks that way.
So is it looking like a early new year present if all goes to plan? Need to start saving I feel!

Saving? Sell the missus. Hell, sell somebody else’s missus!

Right, I’m having one of those with a short handle and that’s that. Everything else can go on hold. Please make some shorter handles, Andrew @Hone ….😇👍

Jings, crivens, help ma boab, you’d do what? Sacré bleu! Sacrilege, dear boy, sacrilege! Would you hang a furry dice in a Rolls Royce as well? Matron has been dispatched with deadly instruments of, of, well death actually…

Of course if you are a hacksaw wielding artisan of uncanny dexterous ability then I apologise and shall humbly withdraw my agent, nay angel of death. Matron! Fetch my pills and not the blue ones, you wicked old tartar! Honestly, ruddy woman’s a menace….

My apologies Andrew for this crass derailment but you will post such provocative pogonotomical porn. And I’ve had a bang on the head lately plus Matron says if I’m good, I may be allowed to venture forth and purchase said sexy stainless shaver. Rocca be gone, shift your gaze oh splendid Timeless and all ye other wondrous creations: ‘tis the Hone for me and no mistake!

I think Andrew said the length of the razors - all materials - will be standardised going forward

My brass Hone is slightly shorter than my 15a
About 95mm total length assembled

Hello, sorry for the slow reply. Thanks for all the lovely comments above.

Had a few things to get sorted ... But the manufacturing contract is signed. Full production costs are paid. Production is started. Delivery is expected in the new year February... Feels monumental after the last 24 months.

I'm working with a place in Amsterdam who delivered the excellent parts above. One small change is that I am going to offer this razor with and without a stand as options. That way I can try to bring the razor at two price points. I know not everyone wants a stand so now I want to try to offer the option.

@Masamune @Wilga @Gairdner Those are the correct dimensions above :) I am trying to standardise. I was never 100% on the balance of the long handle. And drilling out the handle didn't really fix it (it was only an M5 tap drill hole so didn't really remove enough material) The 92.5mm to the underside of the head is what I used to call the 85mm handle. I now include the curved surface that comes from the underside of the guard piece because you can grip up there.

Better get saving then! Luckily that’s the month before my birthday so that will help! Can’t wait!

Hi @Hone
Are we still looking like sometime in February is likely to be the launch date?
I’m torn between buying a gem razor I’ve been offered or saving still for this which I know I’ll want as soon as it’s released!

Thank you for following up! Oh a nice Gem single edge is a hard thing to pass up!

Things are a little ahead of schedule; The machining is actually finished! A day I thought might never come. The parts went for brushing last week for the first stage of finishing, and will go for the fine texturing this week. Then some QA. I think middle to the end of February might be possible. I have taken a cautious approach on the website and said March. I will do my own QA when they are here as well so need to account for that also. I typically pull a random sample size out of the batch and go through them with all the measuring equipment and surface gauges etc. If that is all ok I can launch while I am still packing because I can't pack the whole batch at once anyway.

That is a very long winded way of saying... I might be ready in Feb, but cautiously suggesting early March should be pretty much a certainty. (Touch wood there are no last min surprises!)

Not sure if that helps make your Gem dilemma any easier haha.
