Can’t wait to try it out tomorrow, I bought one last week, I heard nothing but good things about it.
Right now one of my favorite razors is the Blackbird and according with the reviews Tatara feels and perform in a similar way ( hope the rumors are true this time ).
We will see.
Nice pics btw

The Balckbird is much more efficient and the head shape provides a different feel when shaving to the Tatara IMO, no suction.

Can be compared to Razorock SLOC?
Unfortunately I have not used Razorock SLOC. Tatara was not as mild as Feather AS-D2 but I tend to press too much with mild razors because I feel I don't get a close shave. I think Tatara was like Rockwell 6S at setting 3 maybe. A bit too mild for my liking. I also find ATT R1 too mild for me.

My favourite razors are Blackland Blackbird SB and OC. Also Blackland Dart with an easier blade like Voskhod is very nice. I also like ATT H1 a lot.

Its (Blackbird) efficiency is compromised by a blade not as well supported as the Tatara. I don't notice the difference on my beard, but ATG on my head the difference is profound in favor of the Tatara.

I got my first shave with Tatara SB and I must say that I’m very impressed with the razor in the mild side yeah but very efficient and smooth (at least for me) not mentioning that is very well balanced, easy to maneuver with and outstanding machining.
Got zero irritation and a fabulous shave definitely a keeper, hopefully the OC will be a notch more aggressive at least that’s what am hoping for.

The OC is up a notch but still a mild but efficient shaver in my book.

I have very fond memories of this razor from the pass around and have finally just pulled the trigger on the dark (black) version with a SB head. I'm hoping that this will be my last razor purchase for some time and I can't wait until it arrives.

Congratulations on acquiring the Tatara, a brilliant piece of kit IMO. The more I use it, the less I use other razors. Easy to find the cutting angle and necessary pressure.

It is a beautiful well balanced razor. Only negative for me was too mild cutting power. It didn't go go deeeeeep into skin.
Otherwise almost perfect razor. Just like Feather AS-D2 perfect razor but too little cutting power.:boxing:

I actually get my best shaves from a Canadian Tech so the Tatara is starting to sound appealing.

Can any comment on it's efficiency compared to a Tech or the AS-D2?

I wouldn’t catalog this particular razor on the aggressive side but more in the mid-range if you’re are looking for something like the ikon tech(aggressive & super efficient)I don’t think you’ll find it on Tatara, however if you rotation includes mid-range instruments then you will be more than happy with it.
I’m terms of efficiency Tatara have the job done (at least for me) in two passes and a few cleaning here and there.
BUT the one thing where Tatara shines amongst the others is how “SMOOTH” and “MANEUVERABLE” it is.
Yes my Muhle 41 will give me a super shave in almost one pass but is not as smooth as Tatara is.
I have aggressive and mid-aggressive razors in my rotation and I can tell you that Tatara always put a smile on my face every time I shave with, specially it partnered with feather blades.
Is it for everybody? NO!
But again this is just my opinion.

I agree with every observation, great analysis. It is annoying how the word 'smooth' is cringey, as all good razors are smooth or comfortable, but the term is semantically correct.

The smoothest razor I use is the Mamba. The smoothest and most efficient is the PILS. You then consider those that are smooth but with blade feel. To relate; this is not ultra smooth or 'gel tipped' yet lovely scrub, no scratch.
The Timeless Ti SB, Rex, Karve, Fatboy, Blackbird, Wolfman, BBS-1 etc come into this bracket.

The Tatara also falls into this bracket. Blade IMO feels less crisp on the face. More towards the Karve, less than the Blackbird. The Timeless Ti SB at 0.95 has a dull blade feel, as does the Tatara, yet the latter feels more direct.

It can be interesting. 27% discount on the Tatara website.

I have bought a Cap Nodachi to put next to my Tatara Masamune, does anyone use Top Nodachi and Masamune base?
