@TATARA RAZORS - maybe João can give us some more details / insight into his design philosophy and fabrication methods???
Hello @Nico1970,
We wanted to design a clean and elegant safety razor with everything that a vintage product can offer but with one of the new designs trends, minimalism.
This is because we believe that the market has already enough non-differential DE razors and because our brand TATARA is inspired in the Japanese culture, that also reflects purity and minimalism.

"The name TATARA is inspired in the furnace where the forge masters used to smelt the
Japanese swords steel. This exceptional traditional method was the proof of whole the
determination and purity that the forge masters where putting in each piece."

The fabrication method is mainly done by us and because we work everyday with CNC machines and high precision parts, we are "obsessed" with precision.
After give form to the razor each part is checked separately and hand finished until what we believe the best finish result (0-defects philosophy).

Best Regards

I would buy it for sure if I could choose a different handle. Because of the dowel system you can’t use a different handle [emoji20]
Dear @carbold,
If the thread of the handles are big enough to hold the cap, you can always use a different handle.
We have tried with other handles (muhle for instance) and it works, but be aware that you will lose all the advantages that our fitting system brings.

yes of course, you'd end up with a gap between the stud and the hole in the head. Any chance to get different handles in the near future?

I saw the Tatara razor and liked the design, the clean modern look so I went ahead and ordered one with both plates.

I have been using the Tatara with both the SB and OC plates daily now for about 2 weeks using 2 different blades, Polsilver and Gillette Yellow, for me I like the blade feel and feedback this razor gives. I have found that with the right blade and soaps (cushion, glide and slickness) renders this razor to give a smooth and very efficient shave. To make a comparison I believe the SB plate gives a Timeless 95 feel, the OC plate is somewhat more aggressive (blade feel) yet again especially with the OC plate, with the right blade and soap this plate will give you a very smooth and very efficient shave, just remember if you are not paying attention the OC could bite. Again a good soap is required to get the full benefits from this delightful razor. My opinion is, this razor is not for those that want a mild shaver.

Congrats for buying this beautiful razor. I really looks great! And now you are confirming that it is smooth and efficient. Well done. I am looking into some stainless steel razors. This one is an option.
