The hot water felt good on my battered body. For an inexpensive off the shelf soap Van der Hagen performs a good workman like job. It's slicker and more cushioning than the best jello or canned foam. I made a solid face lather. The Merkur is an old friend of 20+ years and was my first DE when I started wet shaving. It is both solid clamping and nimble on the face. Two lathered passes are good enough to go about my daily chores. Witch hazel and Clubman finish and a little Racing Club blue to keep me from smelling like every guy walking out of barbershop.
Personal note: My brother passed sunday. I'm not completely back yet. Grief is a process and not a destination but he's no longer in pain and he's with the Lord.
