Wednesday 21st October...

Today's new item was the Kai Captain Mild Protouch MG blade. Bit of a mouthful! This was a much safer - again guarded - blade to use than the Feather ProGuard which was infinitely sharper but this felt much more suited to my face. It's given a good, clean and safe shave with none of the stresses that came with the ProGuard. Definitely a better fit for me just not sure how long it will last for in terms of sharpness with my stubble. Very interesting. Would be a good shavette blade too I think.

The AI got carried away with the aftershave label today again Spot the error...

Hot shower prep with Old Spice Swagger body wash

The hot water felt good on my battered body. For an inexpensive off the shelf soap Van der Hagen performs a good workman like job. It's slicker and more cushioning than the best jello or canned foam. I made a solid face lather. The Merkur is an old friend of 20+ years and was my first DE when I started wet shaving. It is both solid clamping and nimble on the face. Two lathered passes are good enough to go about my daily chores. Witch hazel and Clubman finish and a little Racing Club blue to keep me from smelling like every guy walking out of barbershop.

Personal note: My brother passed sunday. I'm not completely back yet. Grief is a process and not a destination but he's no longer in pain and he's with the Lord. I want to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and support and also for this website that has been a calm place I could go to during this trying time. Thank you all.
