I'm booked in for the 3rd of November for a full half lower sleeve, traditional Japanese Oni Battle mask, well why not aged 61 you are never too old, I did a fair bit of looking and searching before I found the right Tattooist, she's a local Girl booked until 2021 so I was lucky to get in, she has booked me for a full-day session for the outline, then another day for the colour work, here's a link to her work, and a picture of my Tattoo.

I'm probably more reactionary than just about anyone else here, but sometimes you just have to swim with the tide (or faster).

Everyone in the West has tats now - at least one even if it's just Sanskrt for "Imagine there's no heaven" or Mandarin for "All you need is love" or your kids birthday in Comic Sans or whatever.
An increasing number of people have them on their faces & necks. This seems to be more common with women, or perhaps I notice it more.

In, say, 8-10 years, many (most?) folk's grandmothers will have tattoos. If your Nan has a tattoo of the lyrics to "500 MIles" in Aztec on her forearm then it's over. This is now a phenomenon to be studied rather than be condemned.

I doubt employment/ ibility is an issue now, or if / where it is then not for long.
When I started looking for work, most places said "remove visible piercing for your shift" but I doubt that is enforced now, unless you work in a magnets and acid factory. Most of the folk at my local Starbucks have multiple body mods.
In a world of zero hours and nil benefits, most employers couldn't give a sh*t anyway, even if they wanted people to cover up for the "right" reasons.

And quite rightly you are entitled to your opinion. But, I’ve never been to prison, never been in trouble with the police, never been in a gang, never had points on my driving licence. Did have two parking tickets many many years ago. No pending convictions, always paid all my taxes. Educated up to the standard of teaching 18+ and a Scout Leader for over 11 years.

Even after reading your post, if there is anything I can ever do to help you I would be there for you friend.

And that's all it is, just my opinion, I would never have one myself. And I associate tattoos with the bad guys on TV or in movies because that's where I've seen most of them. I don't care about yours one way or the other, and no offence was intended. And I would never deny assistance to anyone because they had a tattoo.

I get where you are coming from on these. But I pity them, drawn into a gang culture where they feel or are indeed made to do these things and much worse. All to from an early age and a life wasted. Some later regret it and go on to bettering themselves and turning their lives around, the others simply die an early death. It does take a special someone to employ them, people do though. But here you are talking about the fringes of society.

Honestly though your initial comment is offensive as you statement “I associate tats with prisons, gangs” etc, it’s a broad and sweeping comment to all with tattoos. I’m pretty sure you would be glad to see a doctor or a nurse in hospital With one, fixing up you or a loved one. It could be a Police Officer coming to your aid. Even that frontline member of your armed forces defending your country.

End of the day it’s just ink, colour on skin, to discriminate against anything these days Is quite rightly wrong. Let’s not forget there are plenty of evil people out there with no tattoos. And many with tattoos you never see who may be evil or may be they are the complete opposite. You may not see them on a daily basis but they are there, perhaps it’s the girl at your favourite coffee shop or the fella serving you ?

I have stated before and I struggle with some piercings as to why, but again it’s individual choice, not a point of judgement.

If that's what you want you should go for it. I would opt for a patterned shirt, that way I can take it off at the end of the day.

I think getting a tattoo at 61 is a much better idea than getting one at 16. Good for you. Just for my own curiosity, how much does at tattoo of this standard and that size cost?

I was just wondering that too.
I wouldn't get a tattoo. I can't think of anything i have liked for even one decade, let alone multiple.
Have things changed? Will those colours remain or do they change over time?
You see quite a lot of old tattoos that are a shadow of what they probablt were.
I don't know it that is down to poor tattoing or choice of tattoo etc.
Has technology moved on?

Paul, It's hourly, £70 per hour, because of the design and size she had to book me in for a whole day about 6 hours for the detailed outline, I'm thinking the cost will be about £800.

Ah Yes- it makes sense that it’s hourly now you say it, and quality doesn’t come cheap. Great design by the way
