Unfortunately we do not seem to have got the hang of it. I have seen facial Tatoos in the Pacific on ladies and they look fine and does not detract from their looks. I hate to see how British women are disfiguring themselves just not nice.As for men who ink their face , does that help employability?
I do have one on my forearm acquired in HMF, hid it from my Mum for a long time. Do I regret getting it, Yes I do.
That post you quoted was specifically addressing tattoo-related health concerns not stupid decisions.
As far as employability goes, I have consciously not gotten a tattoo anywhere I can’t easily cover it because I may have to for a job. With that being said it depends on the job, if I’m looking for a welder and a guy turns up who's expert at it but has facial tattoos I'd hire him, hotel receptionist I wouldn’t.

All of mine are arm ones all very much visible. I went for a job once, they called me back and offered me the job, didn’t like the pay they were offering and refused, they came back with a better offer which I accepted. Got there on first day, I turn up in a smart polo and chinos, “ahh there is a problem” , “ those tattoos, we have a no tattoos on show dress code“. So a tattoo on show makes me a different person ? Over the next few weeks they make it obvious I wasn’t wanted or liked, so I has died in my notice and left. Probably a case for constructive dismissal.
Next job In interview I mentioned I had tattoos and get a blank questionable look,”no that’s no problem at all, as long as they aren’t offensive”. Same with the next interview.
Currently working with 16-18 year olds, so impressionable age group, and a scout leader. They ask about them, they get the same answer, Don’t do it until you are older and established in your career and be prepared for those who find them offensive. But that said these days anything that any one discriminated against is out !
I find anyone pre judging me by my tattoos offensive and narrow minded. Get to know me, and people will agree I’m perhaps one of the most generous, kind, easy going people and always willing to help and listen to others, people going. I’ve never been in any sort of trouble, only had drugs once when someone invited bad company to my stag do and they spiked my drink. Don’t smoke, and very VERY rarely have too much to drink. Hopefully no one would judge anyone by colour, sexuality, etc, etc so why judge me by the way I look. Love my tattoos, love the way they look. Like to display some individuality. Had another recently and there is space for more. I’m happy, do what makes YOU happy in life and not what others want.
Personally, Im not keen on facial tattoos for the record.

I agree with everything you just said, however certain professions / organisations have a dress code that can include no visible tattoos. I don’t necessarily like it, but if I want to work there I have to accept it. It’s the same as clothing, if I work somewhere that stipulates business dress I can expect it to not help my prospects if I turn up in jeans and a T-shirt no matter how much I’d rather be wearing them.

Appreciate what you are saying. A can hide mine if I wanted or had too. Reminds me of the Japanese gangsters who have full body suits but the stop short on the arms and open shirt chest area.
Certainly where I work you would may be expect no tattoos, but there are plenty of us who do have them. To a degree and In my experience they do break down a few barriers. Some of my students are perhaps the more rebellious ones. In general they have struggled in education and struggled with figures of authority. Once you find a way in and a point of conversation it makes life easier. They are more than willing to ask me about my tattoos, an ice breaker ! Not why I have them and I came to education after many of them.
I must say though I have never and would never encourage a student to have any, that would cause a lot of trouble.

And quite rightly you are entitled to your opinion. But, I’ve never been to prison, never been in trouble with the police, never been in a gang, never had points on my driving licence. Did have two parking tickets many many years ago. No pending convictions, always paid all my taxes. Educated up to the standard of teaching 18+ and a Scout Leader for over 11 years.
Even after reading your post, if there is anything I can ever do to help you I would be there for you friend.

I'm booked in for the 3rd of November for a full half lower sleeve, traditional Japanese Oni Battle mask, well why not aged 61 you are never too old, I did a fair bit of looking and searching before I found the right Tattooist, she's a local Girl booked until 2021 so I was lucky to get in, she has booked me for a full-day session for the outline, then another day for the colour work, here's a link to her work, and a picture of my Tattoo.

Very nice ! Nice colours like the Peony flowers. That is also another top tip when choosing a tattoo artist, if you have a long wait, it’s for a very good reason ? I don't have any tattoos, mainly because I've never been able to think of something with a great meaning to me, not that it's about that for everyone, but I think for me if I was ever going to it would be to do something that had a deep meaning for me. I'm always amazed when I see some of the artwork going into people's tattoos, they look incredible.

Good idea waiting for a meaning or something special to come along. All of mine have been well planned and not rushed into. Can‘t stress enough though that anyone should go with a well established artist With all the local authority certificates and not some back street poker.
