A few more pictures after today's shave. I will write a full review once I've used the brush extensively. First impressions are very good. The VLB mechanism is a great benefit. Very happy with version 2 so far.

This is a standard Shavemac 2 band silvertip fan.
Apologies for the poor phone pics!

All post first use. The knot still has to bloom.

Pardon me for asking but wouldn't the lower loft settings restrict the blooming of the knot to it's full potential?

Hiya Wayne, to be honest after use I dial the the knot up to its max and leave it to dry so it fully blooms and the 'roots' dry out too.

To be honest it's only had the one use, but I find the tips to be very soft, cloud soft if you like but definitely not gel like. The thing is I have only used it at a very low loft. I know it will have a very different feel when dialed up to a larger loft. It will most certainly be softer. Basically I am after a backbone in-between a standard 2 band and a D01 2 band. I can achieve this with this brush. It covers so many preferences it truly is unique. Tomorrow I will try it at a higher loft and see how it goes, all without having to buy several brushes :)

A few advantages I have already noticed apart from the above. Firstly lowering the loft (mid shave) squeezes lather to the tips, useful. Also if wanting to bowl lather I have the option of raising the loft to the max, making things easier. Then of course for my preference, dialing it low.

OK thank you so much as you use it more please fill me in on how the tips become. Is important to me because I have very sensitive skin and I usually only buy Soft or gel like tips with good backbone. Some shavemacs are like that and some have some scritch

How much play is in the adjustment mechanism? My concern is that the knot will wiggle at the mid-point setting. Is the knot firm in the handle from all the way up to all the way down?

Thanks,

Ed K.

No problem, zero scritch from the knot.

Hiya its only been one use, which I have to emphasise and so far no play in the knot. It sits firmly at a set loft. This includes when scrubbing and building lather. Bernd modified the mechanism from the first version to remedy this problem. The knot now doesn't even come away from the handle. Solid. I will provide a video testing it thoroughly to show the brush's characteristics fully.

After seeing the new handle shape, I approve.
I didn't like the original Barber shape but this one doesn't cinch in at the waist quite so much.
Looking good!

Thanks @Mr_Smartepants. The handle is very substantial in the hand. Not as heavy as SV brush handles but not far off. This handle is more ergonomic than the the Barber. Something I didn't believe possible.

Excellent. Especially where the knot does not come away from the handle.

Thanks for the quick reply. Looking forward to the video.
