Shavemac synthetic brush

I can confirm both brushes have arrived safe and sound @Nishy. Having never owned a Shavemac I can immediately say I like the presentation with the nice boxes. Simple yet good touch. The synthetic has already impressed me in looks. Very soft tips and nice backbone to splay from dry. The handle is a nice weight and the shape is different. Does remind me of something very 70's retro. I will report back in a few days. I need to give this little baby a good test drive.
To give you an idea of what i'll be comparing it to from the world of synthetics. Here's a pic of my current collection and a couple of brushes I have on loan.

Looking forward to your thoughts. Mind me asking, what's the gray handle brush in the middle row, 2nd from the left? Is that a Mühle STF knot?

From what I can tell the knot is a chinese clone of the Muhle STF. Similar wave fibers but they are too thick, and has a sizable glue bump. The handle is a prototype that i'm also going to be reviewing soon

I have a friend who has just received this brush from Bernd with a 26x52 knot.
According to him this brush has good backbone, very soft tips and a nice splay. He also has Milton, Muhle and Simpson synthetic and his opinion is that’s it’s his best one.
He is not too keen on the grey colour of the tips though

These definitely look had tied. I wonder what he's charging on the price and how much configuration Bernd will offer on the knot size, shape and knot loft

According to the configurator someone posted it's about €55 for a 26mm knot.

I paid 75 EUR for mine: Lotus Gold Rush, 26x50 Bulb. I like strong backbone - so fingers crossed.
Not delivered yet... I hope to get it at the end of this week.

Edit / I kept three synthetic brushes only: Chubby, Duke, Epsilon bulb shape. I didn't like all the other fibres available in the market, especially the Tuxedo one.

I only started using badgers again this week. And Shavemac had not created a synthetic until now so yep lol

Personally I wouldn't say the Shavemac synthetic has strong backbone. Sorry. It has a very well balanced backbone akin to that of a 2 band silvertip measuring 26/50. For strong backbone I would be suggesting a Simpson chubby 2 synthetic. The issue arises with the tips. Simpson (above) has softer tips, but a harder scrub. Shavemac has an individual tip feel like a natural badger and again as mentioned above a very balanced knot feel so scrubbing and painting feel as a natural 2 band Shavemac silvertip badger would.

I would strongly advise waiting for the Shavemac VLB LE. You can go from a rock hard backbone to candyfloss on the face within the same brush and without having to change the synthetic knot. It may even be cheaper than the standard offering.

It will have more backbone than the pass around, but the pass around is so well balanced. If D01 knots are your preference a higher density would have to be considered IMO.
