Enjoyable enough, but nothing out of the ordinary. Food is an interest of mine, so I tend to like food movies. To its credit, it's a bit different from many food films. But I just didn't buy into Bradley Cooper as a top chef. 6/10.

Wow, very good only gets 6.5/10 - are you Paul Hollywood?:okay:
No - I graduated in '95 from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne top of my class with a First (on a 4-yr MEng course) and pride/habit has me ever since to consider 'near perfect' anything that is ranked 7.0/10 or 7.5/10 and above.

I know it's a bit too much but when I see people ranking a movie or a razor or whatnot with a 9.5/10 - sorry, that's not my style.
You give 9.5/10 to the Yardley shaving soap, let's take this example.
Houbigant comes along - what score do you give, then? Eleven out of Ten? Can't do that.

Excellence (relatively speaking, of course) should always stay clearly on top - and this should be visible, so that others can take example.

Agree with @Redd on Star Trek: Beyond. Lacking cohesion and Idris Elba's villain is woeful in comparison to what has gone before. Love the original The 39 Steps with Robert Donat as it has such atmosphere and draws you right in. Great film for a rainy afternoon, feet up by the fire and a pot of tea. :D

Watched "The Big Short" last night.

I found it a very interesting film but probably not everybody's cup of tea ( My Mrs had lost the plot after 15 mins )

I would give it a 7

Grimsby - Funnier than I thought it would be. Nothing remotely sophisticated with completely overblown cartoon characters aplenty but it gave me a few laughs throughout which is better than a lot of comedies do.

Bone Tomahawk - Western / Horror mash up. I've read people claiming it was a little slow but I quite enjoy that with a western, especially out in the open frontier stuff. Has one of the most wince inducing death scenes I can recall but the tension doesn't quite ratchet up well enough and the final act seems a little by-the-numbers. Still enjoyable overall and the central cast, Richard Jenkins especially, are really good together.

I thought it was funnier in places than it should be.

Risen. It tells the story of the Roman Tribune Clavius who was sent by Pontius Pilate to investigate the rumours of Jesus rising from the grave after Pilate had him crucified. It deals with a man who sees Jesus dead on the cross, and later comes face-to-face with him in a small room with the Apostles. Clavius must reconcile what he knows and what he has seen. As a historical fiction film it is quite good -- not preachy or proselytizing. The sets and costumes are spot on, and the stench of ancient cities and towns come through. Well worth the hour and forty-five minutes. 7/10.
