Some new motive power has arrived for the 7mm project.

It’s an English Electric Type 3, later Class 37, by a company called Heljan. Not only is it big but it weighs a ton!

I can remember seeing scores of this loco being used for goods trains, pulling out of the station at York and past what is now the National Railway Museum.

Our group layout had a visitor last night.

We had a bit of an ‘open house’ last evening and someone brought this along. The owner was a fireman on the real loco, of which this is a model, when it was in preserved service.

Absolutely, if the locomotives were shiny and new they really would not look authentic.

On a similar line, this was a model garage, see the rust on the pump and sign, oil stains on the floor. Superb skill levels

These have all been weathered by a friend of mine with brushes, fibreglass pencil and cotton buds.

We’re currently in Leven, Fife, (home of Mrs P) for a long weekend and dropped onto the local heritage railway. One of the locos they have there is this:

Back in my working days I found myself on feature News assignment in Gerber, California with some serious Model Railroad Aficionado's, the Humana's. Old Farmer who duplicated SP Line circa 1940 to scale in their basement from Gerber, CA to Dunsmuir, CA. They call their layout the South Shasta Line, did train shows couple times a year, to fund project. Think they get award for two of the most boring people I met in my career.


They also collected and restored antique farm equipment.

This is a pic of a OO layout that belongs to friend of mine who is also a member of our group.

It represents Outwell Village on the now abandoned Wisbech & Upwell Tramway in East Anglia. The photo was taken at an exhibition in Wakefield today.
