Yes - that is correct.
Why?

I'm assuming the idea is that they can be used temporarily, until you get a new tire, which has value. (how common are they, are they just on "highish end" cars or..? I assume they come from the factory with those tires).

Aside from the availability issues notes above,, I suppose I imagine people driving on them until they become a genuine hazard. Y'know, in the way that folk will cover a "check engine" or "see oil" light with apiece of tape, or leave a smashed light out of service for months until they get pulled over and fined for it, or will re-attach a dangling number plate with a cut up coat hanger instead of 2x 25 pence stove bolts.

YouTube has some good content but there is a lot of total rubbish on there too, most of it presented by screaming morons.

The offside driving light on my Skoda Octavia has failed, added to which, the tailgate has become temperamental about opening.

I’m somewhat peeved as the car is less than 4 years old and I’ve only had 3 months.

Booked it in the dealer it came from, under warranty but, as it is a warranty repair, it has to have a diagnostic check first. The first date available is 11th June.

Just as well they’re minor, as in not dangerous, issues but even so…

I hope they do not charge you for the diagnostic, my dealer wanted £75 to connect the laptop which would tell the technician the source of the fault.

The microswitch on the Skoda boot is a common fault but I wonder if there could be a common fuse for the driving light and the boot release?

You can do a test by trying to open the boot using the key fob, if it works then the fault is the microswitch button, if it doesn't then I would check the fuse.

YouTube. Rick Beato. He’s brilliant with music theory, and is probably The Best (I use the term very carefully and even more, sparingly) musician interviewer since Dick Cavett. Beato asks questions about music and musicianship, not frivolous ridiculousness. He asks the question and then just shuts up and lets the person talk.

Does anyone know in what part of the manufacturing process of electrical wires (and hoses, come to that), the element that causes them to tangle at any opportunity and/or catch on any obstacle, is introduced?

It might make me feel better if I knew…

I bought a new electric mower, I made a complete mess of servicing my petrol mower and it went bang. The new mower has a detachable cord that I hung on the garage wall, admiring the looped circles of wire, every loop the exact same size, took it down to use and it went into multiple tangles and knots in seconds, I was so upset I had to sit down!

The same phenomenon of multiple tangles and knots happens with my dog’s leash every time. I’ve come to expect and accept that it will happen. Lowered expectations ease the angst of frustration and disappointment with people too
