It would be a shame if the car has to crash before the passengers realised they had a bad driver…I see that a little differently. People need to be able to understand the difference between right and wrong, good and bad, without having to experience something bad. And I don't have confidence that if someone experiences something bad, that that will result in seeing things as they are instead of as they want them to be. Too many times those people experience something bad and then rationalize it so they can fit things into their myopic and self centered view of the world. In order for people to see things as they are they need to have the capacity for critical reasoning. Way too many people in this sad country just don't have the capacity for that type of thinking. I didn't always feel this way but after one term things have only gotten worse, not better.
