The Blackbird original and Blackbird Sabre V.2 I find to be more efficient than the Karve plate E. However I wouldn't describe either as being inefficient. I also find the Blackbird in particular to shave 'closer' or deeper than the Karve. However I could easily and comfortably perform 3 passes with the Karve. The Blackbird is confined to 2 passes for me. If I sold all my razors and kept my Blackbird I wouldn't suffer. I'm not sure I could put the Karve in the same category. The Blackbird also looks better and has better balance IMO. Please note I only have the Karve in the shorter handle configuration.

First use of the Karve today and I was very impressed. I have the D plate on a 3” handle and it felt nicely balanced for me. The angle of the shave was entirely intuitive and I didn’t have to think about the way I held the razor at any point. It’s very smooth. It actually felt pretty mild but it’s certainly efficient. The weight of the razor did all the work. I was DFS + in 2 very comfortable passes. I may add the E plate in future although that would just be an indulgence really. So, I’m delighted with the Karve. As a bonus, I actually like the smell of brass.
Quick question for those of you who have both, how does the Karve on D compare to the Blackbird in terms of aggressiveness/efficiency? Cheers guys.

Nice move. The C plate is one of my all time favorite shaves.

The C is the preferred plate of the designer/builder Chris Hitchen. The C was what he was trying to build and he pulled off a masterpiece imo.

That’s encouraging to hear. I took Chris’s advice as my only other razor now is Timeless 0.95 which is a stunning razor but I would struggle to use daily. I think the Karve would complement this well. That’s the plan anyway!

Three shaves with the Karve so far, all using a Polsilve SI, and I’m delighted with the razor. I think the D plate is just about right for me. Near bbs in 2 passes. Very smooth and very efficient. I just have to decide on which blade to try next.

Glad your enjoying it, it’s incredible the amount of praise this razor is getting. I’m enjoying Astra blades at the moment, but do also want to try Gillette Nacet blades as heard good things.

That’s nice of you mate. Out of interest what are your go to blades? I like polsilver, Perma-Sharp and Astra. I did buy Kai blades but felt over rated for price.

Do you mind me asking when you got the email about the dispatch? I’ve got order #2063 and still waiting to hear... The last update on his website said that all remaining orders in the 2000s should be done by Sunday 9th September...

Thank you. I don’t remember giving my mobile number when placing the order, so probably wouldn’t get a text, but he certainly has my email. And it still only says “Your order is confirmed” on his website. Not sure if it’s worth trying to contact him to ask, as he’s never replied to emails or messages. Hopefully it will get shipped sometime this week, after all the delays...
Hope your package arrives quickly and without any problems (even though you’re likely to get hit with the customs charge, as I will...).

Same as you, I’d been debating between C and D plates, and in the end ordered both, just to be on the safe side. Especially since an extra plate wasn’t that expensive.

Just got an email from Chris. He said he had a “quality issue” with a whole batch of top caps, which had to be scrapped. And that delayed all the shipments. He said my order will be posted today.
