Was it just the D plate you got? I took forever to decide! Let me know what it’s like when you receive, be interested in your thoughts.

Yes just the D plate. I took some time to decide myself. But I suppose plates can always be added. Which handle did you go for? I went for the 3’.

Went for 3” as well, some people have said it affects the weight balance but I’m pretty confident it will be fine.

I should clarify: that the 3” handle feels wrong to me is best(?) explained as a function of weight to diameter to length, accentuated by relatively shallow and smooth knurling. The Charcoal Maze handle has the same length but better grip and smaller diameter, and offered a better experience when trying out. The slightly longer (9cm-ish) and lighter Stork Ti handle, however, is thus far the best. In other words, it’s not about the razor being top heavy with the stock 3” handle. YMMV once again. I even may learn to appreciate it between now and whenever the new handle gets here in presumably quite some time.

After much discussion with my wife this evening I'm no longer getting a Timeless Ti head for my 50th but am now getting the Karve I've already ordered and a second Karve with a 3.5" handle and a C Baseplate for a combined 50th birthday and Christmas present.

She said she wanted to get me something memorable this year and that's definitely what this will be. Roll on early December. [emoji846]

Congrats on the upcoming birthday. Just food for thought and obviously IMO, the Ti timeless 0.95 SB is everything the Karve E plate delivers but better. To clarify this further, the razor is lighter so gives the impression of greater manoeuvrability. Side tabs are better hidden and over two passes I do experience a closer and more comfortable shave. The above is not to take anything away from the Karve E plate, as it is absolutely fantastic. I don't have issues with irritation, the side tabs being exposed or the efficiency expressed. However if I wanted a more refined razor the Ti Timeless would be my choice (0.95 SB). Is it worth the difference in price, perhaps not, but that is subjective.

I totally agree with you. Many times I feel that the Timeless is overlooked. The .95 titanium and stainless steel are some of my favorite razors, so efficient and smooth and it feels like no other razor on my face. The Karve is definitely a wonderful razor especially best bang for the buck but I feel the Timeless is in another category.

I had three shaves with the Karve so far, every time with a different plate: D-E-F. To make things more interesting, I did parallel shaves against Rockwell, Timeless 0.95 SB and Blackbird SB. I must say I'm very pleased with Karve, it held it's own against razor I'm more familiar with so I've made a few observations.

Karve D vs Rockwell on 6 - Very similar, both are smooth, yet Rockwell gave me a bit closer results. Rockwell also felt a bit smoother but that may be because I'm very familiar with that razor. I feel the Karve is a bit more picky about the angle and that it likes it shallow. I will revisit these two again next week.

Karve E vs Timeless - For me, these two feel about the same in terms of aggression. I paid more attention to the angle with Karve and when you get the angle right, Karve is smooth as butter. The results were very close between the two, Timeless was a bit more efficient on the cheeks, Karve performed better on my neck.

Karve F vs Blackbird - I figured the most aggressive F plate would be best paired with the Blackbird and indeed, both felt similar, yet different enough. You can definitely feel a step up in aggressiveness with the F plate, but the blade feel is still not on the level of Blackbird. On ATG Karve felt smoother while Blackbird gave better feedback - which is no surprise since it's one of the highlights of this unique razor. In the end, Karve left me with a few weepers but the results were also in its favor, not by much though. I will revisit this again, hopefully with some other blades, as the two new Nacets proved a bit too much for such aggressive razors.
