I haven’t written YMMV in a while now but a clear case here. No smell of brass on my two Karve’s including the polished one but everyone’s nose is different.

Finest designed head I’ve used in years of wet shaving and tons of DE’s. The cut outs are perfectly designed around the blade. Chris built the Karve around the blade not the other way around. No extra bulk incorporated. Most (especially modern) DE heads are far too cumbersome in design imo, the Timeless and Variant for example. Charcoal gets closer to that ideal design like the Karve.
Totally agree with you, everyone has different ideas on everything in life, razors are no exception. I did research the cause of Brass smells and apparently it is due to the metal reacting with the persons skin oils. Some smell nothing whilst others like myself get a pungent metallic almost sulphurous smell. It isn't the fault of the designer it just happens.

I don't get any Brass smell from my Clog Pruf but I found the smell very off putting with the Charcoal Goods razor. I had to wash my hands a number of times to get rid of the smell.

I really hope Chris makes a SS version. I really need another razor.:p:

Let's talk about 6, Baby.
So one shave down with the F and this morning's turn with the D.

The 3" handle is slightly too small, so the 3.5" would have suited me better.

In so far as the shave results. Both plates were equally as smooth and efficient although there definitely was more blade feel with the F.

The D I felt was slightly mild and equated it to my Muhle R106 ie a razor you can throw around the face without worrying about nicks and weepers.

I don't use DE's all the time, prefering my straights, but the F plate will remain on the Karve.

Another fantastic shave today with the Karve armed with the F guard plate. Just an incredibly efficient and relatively smooth shaver that left me with my jaw dropping to the sink and faceturbating constantly. Light touch, good, smooth consistent strokes and this razor leaves no doubt that it wants to be your top of the shelf shaver on a daily basis. To be honest, it’s putting up a good argument with superb results backing it up.

If your a fan of the R41, Ikon Tech, PAA DOC SS, Blackbird SB/OC and any of the more efficient razors from the big boys such as Timeless, Charcoal Goods, Wolfman and the like, this razor is a must on the razor bucket list. I know, there are those that can’t stand the smell of Brass and the reaction to their skin types, that’s a given. But seriously, the Karve stands tall with all of the razors mentioned above. And if we were to talk $$$ to performance ratio, the Karve smokes all of them, hands down. End of discussion, I’m done here........:smug:
