Shave to the grave

I like the look of it but it's a lot of dough to plonk down if it's a rough shaver. Muhle need to bring out a stainless R41.
The R41 isn't the smoothest shave either though.I like the look of it but it's a lot of dough to plonk down if it's a rough shaver. Muhle need to bring out a stainless R41.
For being an aggressive razor, the R41 is pretty smooth IMO, having said that, the first shave I ever had with the R41 was with a very mild blade and it was a horrible shave, but with a sharper blade I find it very smooth. ..YMMV.The R41 isn't the smoothest shave either though.
Wait ... the handle of the Rocca v4 is brass? I thought the entire razor was stainless steel. It's not a bad razor and I'm not knocking it. I just prefer the more efficient 3ONE6 with its lesser blade exposure, better comfort ATG, and deeper end result. Nothing but good to say about the handle. The rolled brass tube with press fitted SS top and end caps, and a friendly 14mm diameter makes it a winner in my book and would compliment a large variety of razors, for anyone wanting a handle lighter than solid SS. I think if Muhle sold them separately they would be popular.
Certainly the black handle isn't all stainless. It is a rolled brass tube with SS inserts press fitted top and bottom. There's a pic somewhere of someones handle. He polished the black off and it was brass underneath. I can only suspect the birch handle is the same. No idea about the silver 'stainless' colour of the R94.Wait ... the handle of the Rocca v4 is brass? I thought the entire razor was stainless steel.
I hadn't realised that I'd not provided any feedback on the results: superb, very impressed: just the right amount of blade feel for me, close and comfortable.I've now flattened the clamping features on the base plate so there's no gap and this clamps the blade well. However, there is still an impressive amount of blade on show (gap and exposure.) I shall be using it tomorrow with a fresh Gillette Silver Blue.
