I’ve been shaving for a couple of weeks with my new V4 Rocca. Very efficient and excellent results. I need to be more careful than with milder razors but I’m very taken with it for shaving the evening before early shifts as I still look plenty smart enough half way through the next day

The R41 isn't the smoothest shave either though.
For being an aggressive razor, the R41 is pretty smooth IMO, having said that, the first shave I ever had with the R41 was with a very mild blade and it was a horrible shave, but with a sharper blade I find it very smooth. ..YMMV.

Third shave with the Rocca V4. This time I used the supplied Muhle blade and had the smoothest shave yet. That said the Muhle blade isn't the sharpest.

All things considered I'll be selling this razor on. It's easier to use than the 3ONE6 but not as comfortable against the grain, and that's the clincher for me when deciding which one to keep. I was only ever going to keep one.

The Rocca has more blade but despite that I find the 3ONE6 more efficient. It gives one of those deep clean feeling shaves, which I am not feeling with the Rocca. Don't get me wrong I've just had a blinding shave. It doesn't do what the 3ONE6 does though, or the R41 for that matter.

It's not a bad razor and I'm not knocking it. I just prefer the more efficient 3ONE6 with its lesser blade exposure, better comfort ATG, and deeper end result. Nothing but good to say about the handle. The rolled brass tube with press fitted SS top and end caps, and a friendly 14mm diameter makes it a winner in my book and would compliment a large variety of razors, for anyone wanting a handle lighter than solid SS. I think if Muhle sold them separately they would be popular.

Wait ... the handle of the Rocca v4 is brass? I thought the entire razor was stainless steel.

Certainly the black handle isn't all stainless. It is a rolled brass tube with SS inserts press fitted top and bottom. There's a pic somewhere of someones handle. He polished the black off and it was brass underneath. I can only suspect the birch handle is the same. No idea about the silver 'stainless' colour of the R94.

I received my blood-thirsty Rocca V2 head yesterday and I think I can see why the shaves were so rough. The top cap is perfectly fine, however, the base plate clamping ribs are curved which means the blade is only held against the underside oft he top cap in the middle of the blade and the ends are free to flap about. The safety bars are also perfectly straight - it's just the feature that clamps the blade.

In the first picture I'm holding the top cap and base plate together near the end of the head nearest the camera.
In the second I'm holding it at the opposite end and it's clear the amount of 'rocking' that is allowed by the curved base plate.

@p.b are you going to give blood with that?. I actually have a V2 Rocca head, being a while since I shaved with it as I got the V3 then the V4 (free from Muhle).

I've now flattened the clamping features on the base plate so there's no gap and this clamps the blade well. However, there is still an impressive amount of blade on show (gap and exposure.) I shall be using it tomorrow with a fresh Gillette Silver Blue.
I hadn't realised that I'd not provided any feedback on the results: superb, very impressed: just the right amount of blade feel for me, close and comfortable.
