It's sad to lose regional words, and I can only see it getting worse, especially with a distinct lack of verbal engagement today; kids today would rather text than talk face-to-face. I recognise the word mush, I think it's a word used by the travelling community, it means friend or mate around my neck of the woods.
Mush was very commonly used, “alright mush” was a common greeting.

Someone was pee’d off they would have a “cob on”

Someone do something daft and they were a “dinlo”.

Add to that

To run off quick was “pegging it”.

It is snowing the heavy wet stuff now with a total of 15-25 cm/6-10 in in the forecast for today. Just been out to check on a friend's house and can say that it is indeed slippery with poor visibility out there. Time to have a shower then put my feet up and relax.

Bless your heart, it's tiring to watch snow falling. :D

Exciting start to the day. A worried Mrs P appears back from work saying the front offside wheel is making a scraping noise.

Had a look and found a flat piece of metal rattling around behind the brake mechanism. Drove carefully to Goole Quick Fit to see what they could find.

Turned out to be a heat shield. The holes where the bolts that held it on had corroded away and it was just hanging there.

To move the story on, the useless piece was removed and replacements ordered for fitting tomorrow. Safe enough to drive the 10 or so miles home and then back again. Both shields being replaced, just to be on the safe side.

More expense…sigh.

An update to the above.

Parts now arriving Wednesday, so booking amended to PM that day.

Ho hum.

They just help keep some of the mud and sand from kicking up on the inside of the rotor, you can drive it safely without them.

If there is rust under your car get them to check the metal brake lines running down the frame, that's much more important than the dust shields.

Sorry but Kwik Fit says it all. I wouldn’t trust them with anything.
