A neighbour was showing off this door which was a 'Smart' door and could be unlocked with his phone and other devices. He was very proud and I felt like a dinosaur with my key operated locks.

His enthusiasm was short lived when he showed the door to someone else who stood outside the locked door, he opened the letter flap and shouted 'Alexa open the front door', the door locks clunked and slid back like a breech loader.

I will keep my keys.
I have never had one of the old-fashioned mechanical locks on my doors ever go wrong.

A kind of weird morning afternoon... went to saw up some tree parts and the saw wasn't sawing...the other day i put the blade i sharpened backwards on the saw and before i went to go flip the blade a buck that i saw was still in the same spot after the other deer left... he had/has netting or whatever hooked on his small antlers for weeks looked like a mask... the netting and possibly an antler got hoocked on some brush and he couldn't pull away... eventually someone got home and we cut the buck loose and it vaulted away... i called in a report through 911 about this buck with netting and brush stuck on it's head... the brush is pretty wide across it's head...

The beginning of October has been exceptionally good weather wise with daytime temps in the mid to high teens C. At 0700 this morning it was already 19C. Enjoying it while we can before it drops into the more normal temps for this time of year.

Poured down here Bob, torrential rain, to the point where the gutters were overflowing.

Similar temperatures to yourself, around 20C north to south.

You know, I can do without that kind of rain. It runs off too quickly to really absorb into the soil and causes flooding when waterways overflow. Normally we get little of that type of rain in our area but this summer and into fall we have had many instances of it usually accompanied by very high winds and thunder storms. Also this summer and into the fall we have had only 2 or 3 days when temps were above 30C when normally we get sustained periods of a week or so in that range. The humidity levels have also remained high when normally it is hot and dry. This summer and fall have been really abnormal for us. I can't begin to imagine what winter will bring.

...and yet there are still people who deny that our climate is changing.

I was watching a TV program about the glaciers in Switzerland, the Swiss are really worried because what once was a solid slow moving river of ice is now just a lake, smaller glaciers have disappeared completely and all within the past five years

I remember visiting this glacier 35 or so years ago.

You could park just off the main road through Jasper Park and a short walk would get you to it's foot. That is not the case now as it has receded quite a bit since then.

For the past eight days in terms of food I have had 2 apples, one banana and I tried to eat a bowl of cereal, couldn't get it down. That is all.

Eight days ago I had a large meal, nothing crazy just rice, tomatoes and some fresh pineapple to follow. Indigestion soon followed and has not gone away, plus pain in my lower back and abdomen, complete loss of appetite, belching and so on. The pain keeps me up at night but I am very loathe to take painkillers with a stomach issue. I don't think indigestion should last that long.

You shouldn't do it but Dr Google is steering me towards a pancreas issue, probably right. Only 12% of people recover from pancreatic cancer, if that is the end result. Seeing the doctor on Wednesday next for blood tests and an examination.

You can imagine that this is a weight on my shoulders.
