Got to love modern technology, not. I'll also keep my keys. No matter what you do, if someone wants in they will get in. The old saying, "locks are for honest people", still applies today.A neighbour was showing off this door which was a 'Smart' door and could be unlocked with his phone and other devices. He was very proud and I felt like a dinosaur with my key operated locks.
His enthusiasm was short lived when he showed the door to someone else who stood outside the locked door, he opened the letter flap and shouted 'Alexa open the front door', the door locks clunked and slid back like a breech loader.
I will keep my keys.
I've used Blink security cameras and Geeni smart plugs and bulbs which have worked flawlessly for over five years. I still use vintage radios from the '60's and '80's, but am also now using a Bluetooth speaker to play classical music using American Public Media's app.Got to love modern technology, not. Don't get me wrong, by all means use modern electronics if you like. I am just saying that nothing is perfect and as soon as new electronics come out there is someone in short order who has a workaround for it.I've used Blink security cameras and Geeni smart plugs and bulbs which have worked flawlessly for over five years. My Casio MDV-106 watch stops without warning after I changed the battery. I've opened the back several times to check the position of the battery. Enough is enough.
I've studied several options for several days and am deciding to try a solar watch. This watch has Bluetooth capability to maintain time and has a mapping feature plus phone finder, illuminated dial, alarms, and is large enough to see the date. It is an analogue design so I quick view is helpful when not wearing eye glasses.
Absolutely!! Nothing lasts forever even if you try your best to take care of it. The more simple the design, the longer it lasts. Kerosene lanterns are a good example. I've got a few that I have collected and some that are from my grandfather. The Colemans are more complicated and more is required to keep them useable. The kerosene ones work as long as you have a wick and some fuel.Don't get me wrong, by all means use modern electronics if you like. Don't get me started on electronics in modern vehicles. I have a 2021 Subaru Forester that has more electronic crap on it than I will ever use. I think they do that because it cost nothing to do and looks impressive on an options list.Absolutely!! Nothing lasts forever even if you try your best to take care of it. I remember using times for lights and such. Now an app and a smart device is all you need.
The blinker on the Tahoe stopped working after several minutes working at a stop light. I thought maybe something overheated because after it was parked for a while it worked again. Friday the same thing happened so I stopped on the way home at the auto parts place near home. I didn't actually know what I was looking for. The man inside allowed me to take the part to the Tahoe so I could see if I saw something similar under the dash. Soon enough, I had removed the old one and installed the new one.
Especially car radios, With my Audi I have to go into a computer screen and make it messy as I try to find the station I want.Don't get me started on electronics in modern vehicles. Another use for lamp wick is to make snowshoe harnesses with a few spare lengths carried with in case you break a harness.
