The city has sent notices out to residents that have had trouble with water service lines to their houses freezing in the past, to continuously run a tap till further notice to cease doing so. There have also been main water main breaks to add to the misery. Seems early for such measures to me but the city keeps track of how deep the frost line is.

Renewing your driving licence due to a house move or age is now a huge pain the Government wanting to make sure that I am who I claim to be, a BETA system by name. You will need a massive amount of patience and to have around you your smart phone, passport, driving licence and some means of recording your newly selected password. The previous system was a 2 minute job, this was 30 minutes because of, at one point it said 'we cannot proceed you will need to go to a Post Office'. Then it wanted me to work from my smartphone with a vid of my face and scanning my old licence, then it said, again, that they couldn't proceed because I have started the process on a computer and switched to a phone.

I thought it had all failed, then I had an email saying everything was done and dusted.

It would have been easier to have got into a rubber boat.

Uber Eats deliveries

Had an hour at a friends house in Leeds, they are a combined family with nine children, all under 13, explains why I stayed for one hour and not two.

A novelty to me was that they had a robot delivery of food, this mini truck below was full of curries, poppadums and chutneys, we cooked the rice at the house, the kids (and me) thought it was great fun.

I have mixed emotions about the idea of robotic delivery mini trucks. I wonder about it being able to deliver the goods up a snowy or icy driveway which is common here in winter. We have so many things to keep an eye out for when driving and crossing a sidewalk, from pedestrians, bicycles, scooters powered or otherwise, wheelchairs powered or otherwise and possibly now these robots.

An extension of the robotic mini delivery trucks are the proposed self driving transport truck for our highways. I am also not sold on the idea. I guess I am just getting too old for so called progress.

On a similar line, I don't think we have self driving taxi cabs but I have seen vids of people using them in Texas and it looked problem free, at least in city use.
