Homelike Taiga Adjustable Razor

I used the SS Taiga today and agree it is very easy to accidentally change the setting.

Smooth Gliding

As much as the setting is easy to change I didn’t find I was doing it by accident. A light brush against it doesn’t change the setting on mine. So (at least for my unit) it’s not an issue.

Until I became more familiar with the razor with finger placement I had to be careful. I haven’t used the Taiga in a while and checked the setting and it was fine during my shave. It’s not overly soft but something to be aware of.

Tonight with a little over 2 days growth I dialed up the Ti Taiga to 9 (once around and to the 4)

Blade PolSilver Poland 2nd shave

Ethos soap & Post Shave Serum

Mozingo ZT1

My first pass was WTG and the blade could definitely be felt but it was very smooth. When I was finished I did a rinse and was near BBS, definitely on the cheeks and most of my neck. Nothing has cleared this much on the first pass excluding the Ikon Tech.

2nd pass was more of a touchup of the upper lip and under the jaw line and it yielded a wife approved BBS shave.

As a daily shaver most of the time I will probably stay 5 and below but it is good to know you can dial up this razor and get amazingly smooth results. I like this Ti so much I just sold my original SS Taiga as I do not need the open comb baseplate to tackle my wirey grey beard. The SB does the job if I need to dial it up.

Needed a quick shave before church this morning so I dialed the Ti up to 5 and did a very quick 2 pass shave. BBS everywhere except jawline and upper lip but definitely nice and clean for church. The BBS when I used level 9 did not last as long as an IKON Tech or Sailor dialed up but did give me about 18 hours.

The black paint/ enamel is gradually starting to disappear on the SS Taiga.
Normal use, and only cleaned with soap and my hands, no brush or harsh materials used.
Anyone else noticed that?

I’m not too bothered by the enamel on the letters (underneath the baseplate).
But the top half of number “3” has gone, and I suspect, at this rate, all the numbers might lose the enamel soon and it will become rather difficult to see when adjusting the settings.

Was wondering if anyone else has noticed similar issues with their Taiga razor (either SS or Titanium), ie if it’s a general problem (eg writing/ inscriptions not deep enough before enamel applied, or enamel used is too “soft”… I don’t know..), or whether it’s just a particular problem with my razor.

A brilliant shave. Smooth & efficient performing. I’ve had this razor for a little over a year now and I’m just simply amazed at how good it performs but, just as importantly is how good a job of R&D that HomelikeShaving went through to get it right on it’s first go round. A testament to their creative abilities and excellent design/craftsmanship acumen. I can’t attest for the Ti version or any of the later releases though there have been concerns with markings & etchings that have not been of better quality or should I say poorly done. And that is something I don’t blame a consumer for complaining about when your shelling out top dollar for a product that is made and marketed to last a lifetime. On that end that is poor Q/C and HomelikeShaving should take note on that and make proper modifications or adjustments to their finishing procedures. Nonetheless, for me it has been one of the best adjustables that I’ve tried to date baring the Rocnel Sailor Series of razors in which is meticulously crafted with reviews from satisfied customers to back it up. Truth be told, I’ve been debating with meself on picking one up (2021 Sailor) with such a limited number of them being produced. It’s an itch I know that I’m going to have to scratch sooner more than later. Obligations at home though have tempered my impetuousness in acquiring anything as of late.

But, in the meantime I’m more than happy to keep moving along with my Taiga. Yes, it’s a magnificent tool.....

I really like the Taiga.
The only gripe I have with it, is that it is a little head heavy.

It would be interested to try a different knob, which would be heavier and would tilt the balance more to the middle.
Have any of you ever seen anything like that?
Similar was done for Merkur progress (mergress), but that was more for aesthetic purposes if I'm not mistaken.

I've read other places that the titanium polished handle isn't that good for a grip.
Is anybody around here
experiencing this ?
