Do you buy Soaps because of Base (brand), or Scent?

Maybe I am wrong, but the Base is what makes a Great Lather, first PAA I played with was Scentless, I was impressed. How easy it was to work with, how fast it made great Lather. Last the Lather saturated my Bead, it was thick like whipped cream, The Lather made a super smooth surface, allowing Razor to glide across my Skin or Face, mowing down my Beard. Last when I showered post shave my face felt very good to touch. Second PAA I tried had a Scent, I did not love that Scent, but the scented Soap produced the same Great DFS.

For me using a Soap with Scent Im enjoy, is part of the Shave. After Shower, most of the Scent is gone. But in my world that is no biggie.

I give PAA Soaps high marks in my World…..JMHO

Yep, I know there are guys like that. tbh, it makes me feel like I’m only a little bit nuts :D just did a quick mental roll call while sitting here with my pad. Somewhere around thirty razors in all, give or take one or two. Approximately forty brushes and about thirty soaps and creams (not counting my doomsday stash). Splashes, I’d have to go and count, maybe two+ dozen? Edit: I just counted 30 splashes and balms.
I’m only a little sick. Right?
30? You are definitely sick.

Where did you hide the rest?

Certainly the great and mighty Soap King, renowned connoisseur and collector of only the finest artisanal gentlemen’s shave soaps can appreciate my humble yet thoughtfully curated assembly of post shave products?

Not hidden my friend .
I’ve just never posted about them until now 🤐.
Seems after closer counting it‘s just a wee bit north of 30 🤭.

I agree, Toby. Witch hazel is (was?) good stuff. I used to enjoy the Thayer’s witch hazel that came in bottles with a decorative green label that was shave themed. Do you remember that? My memory of that Thayer's is that it smelled less “witch hazely” than the current Dickinson’s smells to my nose. I haven’t bought the Thayer’s brand since they jacked the price up some ten or so years ago. Then I kind of lost interest in using the stuff. I have an oldish bottle of Dickinson’s somewhere, but frankly it doesn’t appeal to me. I should check out the Thayer’s again for old time’s sake. Thanks for the reminder. I will look for that in the stores here.

But you know, when I use some of those bottles of perfume (that’s what Gayle used to call my aftershaves ), I feel like Fred Garvin :roflmao:

And besides, I like my skunk juice. :headphone:

Smells like crap.
Smells like CRAP to you. Smells great to me.

Funny thing is some people like Cigars, others hate anything to do with smoking.

My likes and dislikes are mine, Your likes & dislikes are yours.

Live and let others live.

I am sure there are many Wet Shavers who only use Proraso, or Cella, and are perfectly content. They have no need to ever try anything New, special, artisan, or boutique. Don’t make em bad people, they could be happy, content people.
