Colds, flu and other viruses

I can't see that the pandemic will be "over" until there is either an effective immediate treatment or a vaccine. I think the idea that this will magically "end" is blue sky thinking. I know this wasn't the focus of your post and it's easy to think it will end, but frankly I don't see how. This pandemic has travelled to all the corners of the world unlike more specific virus outbreaks. AIDS is still with us many years on, for instance.
I see so often people referring to AIDS when discussing Covid-19. COMPLETELY different especially in transmission method.

My apologies if you were offended by my post. It wasn't my intention. A few people commented they thought they had contracted the virus at a certain point and wanted to take an anti body test to confirm or otherwise. I was pointing out that the anti body test can't determine when a person was infected, only that they had been. To that end I should not have quoted your post as you were not one of the people I was responding to.

As I wasn't responding to you, I couldn't have been trying to offend you.

So, you were actually ignoring him then? :typing:

But it is not easy to get AIDS and probably we won't die anyway.

This thing will end when people start respecting each other and wear a mask in every closed area. Damn the second is so easy..

Absolutely. But we are up against not only ignorance and stupidity but a whole load of social, cultural and religious practices and customs. Not to mention the US population's obsession with "freedom" which is currently looking like simple selfishness and a stubborn unwillingness to co-operate with the health and wellbeing of fellow citizens, as if this were some kind of symbol of communism. A Trump rally where deliberately not wearing a mask was some kind of a sign of honour? Please........

and when will people realise that masks / face cover are almost useless. Oh, look at me, I am wearing a mask so I am ok Jack!! Yes - may help someone spreading it in close proximity but otherwise - BIG false sense of security. Sorry Randy , bit of UK slang in there. :D

FFP2 masks are easy to buy - I bought ten and wear one everywhere. A proper mask, unlike reworked curtains and simple surgical masks.
and then there are those that go big on FFP then ignore all the surrounding basics - eg no touchy de facey, no pickey de nose, makey sure washey hands. :D Not directed at you but have seen this. The " My mask cost £45 so I am ok " brigade. Dick heads.

You evidently haven't seen the 5 litre can of methylated spirits I keep in my kitchen for wiping everything that comes in the door......

Yes, that is exactly what I meant by over. That there are effective therapeutic treatments or a vaccine. Until that happens why waste time and energy on things not directly related to managing this pandemic to minimise numbers of infected and loss of life. I should have been more specific in what I meant by "being over" for those who may still have their heads firmly planted up their own backside.

I agree. It's all about financial gain and nothing else. No one cares for human`s health especially for the older ones.

Come on if someone dies from CVD in his 80s who cares??

I wasn't touching the face for over 15 years with dirty hands. Impossible? Not for me.
