That was like mine .... then it took numerous washes to clear enough to use. I can still smell the funk, but it's at least bareable now.
Funny how some obviously stink more than others???
I can't beat it SV comes closest, but IMO it's density not hair type that makes SV great. Obviously the hair is very good too.

My ATG brush arrived this week. A stunning brush. The workmanship on the handle is remarkable. I will give it a few break-in bowl lathers and then face lather. Many thanks to @Nishy and Bernd for their efforts. Avnish never left us in the dark concerning the brush development. Bernd did a great recovery on the handles. I appreciate the opportunity to acquire this brush. I know it will be a keeper.

Received mine yesterday 28mm x 54mm 2 band unique fan. Multiple cleaning to get the funk out used it two times. Initial feedback is beautifully made brush wonderful backbone soft tips very dense but not gel tips yet. I think it may soften but I don't feel it will ever be gel-like. Overall I am very happy with the brush great job by Nishy for putting this together and a great job by Bernd!!!!!

My two brushes arrived safe & well on Thursday.
I haven't used them yet as I'm sorting some things out in my little shave den but first thoughts on the general shape and knots are excellent. I went for the larger 28mm knots and the Shape 3 handles are fairly chunky and comfortable. All being well, I'll get them both into action at the end of next week or the start of the next week afterwards. I know from reading around that they don't smell as much dry anyway, but I can't really smell anything from either of mine. My knots are Unique in Silvertip and 2-band.
Have to say, thank you again to everyone involved, both at Shavemac and here on the forum. I'm very pleased with mine so far and looking forward to shaving with them later.
