Keeping it topped up using a standard plug and paying for the use of a fast charger when needed could work. There's just the small matter of the fact that a new Ioniq 5 is about £45K. I'm aware that there are probably smaller cars that are cheaper, but I'm currently driving a 3 series Touring and don't want to go much smaller.
There don't seem to be as many options for second-hand EVs except for the nearly-new ones that are still north of £30K.

Plenty of options, battery health (SOH) is not the worry most would have you believe.
There are however many niggles that various models can have. Bit of research will weed them out. TBH the Ioniq 5 was too much to consider because of that.

Why? I very rarely touch my HVAC controls- sometimes to change the temperature and maybe in winter mornings to de-ice the screen (if I’ve forgotten to turn it on remotely) but then I’m stationary. 99% of the time I leave it on Auto.
Because the auto setting is good at reacting to the ambient temperature in the car, but not so much the fact that I'm wearing a black T-shirt and the sun through the glass is making me too hot. The times that I do want to adjust the temperature when I'm driving is much easier in my car that has a physical knob than it is in my wife's car that has a touch panel. Replacing said knob with a touch panel may benefit the manufacturer, but it makes what should be a simple thing less convenient and impossible to do without looking at the panel to see where to touch it and again to make sure that it has registered the touch and acted accordingly. The use of a touch panel does not benefit the driver in any way.
The fact that the car I have now may be the last one I have that has physical controls and a proper handbrake makes me sad.

You do realise that your off road parking is not large enough for your vehicles - as they overhang the Highway. A jobsworth could easily take issue with you.Hope you ICE users are enjoying the snow in the UK. It is such a pain ( not ) walking out the house to a completely clear and warm car when others are scraping and that is even if I don't have to go anywhere.Spent £2.46 on 'fuel' in January. Marked reduction on my £5.26 bill for December. Out on icy side roads today. Car into eco pro mode, Direct Traction Control off and away we went. . Got the wife a Pfizer vaccine and home safely.
. We still have the 4 wheel drive diesel X4 but this is first choice every time.

This post https://www.atgshaving.com/threads/any-pure-ev-owners-here.14803/post-357252 makes it look as though he doesn't actually have a driveway, he's just taken out his front wall and parked his cars obstructing the pavement. He's not been on here for four years though so it's probably irrelevant by this point.
Unfortunately the photo's cropped so that I can't see if there's a double yellow line there or if there's a proper dropped kerb, possibly intentionally.

I used to live in Henley on Thames where there was a ridiculous situation where the cars were longer than the houses were wide making for impossible parking and despite the houses having a £750,000 price tag they had no garage or drive, they couldn't even find a place for a charging port. I can see petrol cars living on for many years to come.
