Great lather but though the scent would have been stronger to me a dark edition would indicate it had a strong heavy smell.

Worth the money for the performance

Received mine! No time to use it until this evening though.
Out of the package,I got quite a strong, clean floral scent... which is really familiar,akin to something like expensive lotion. Packaging labels are very nice.
Will post more thoughts once I get it lathered ect.

Shangri La - sorry but the jury is out. Excellent whip, feel, protection etc etc but I just cannot love the scent. Magnum - Mmmmmm, lovely. Does not pip the Classic 24 for me but is very nice. I shaved with this one today and the scent got better as the shave went on. Usual Wickhams performance for me.

The V2 tester? Mmmmm, what is this? In a packet, came out like a cream. No / little scent. Did not actually lather well either for me. I did work on it and got it slick and protective feel etc but there was something missing apart from the scent. Something not quite right in the ability to lather etc. Samples this size are not always indicative of the full jobbie I know but there was more than sufficient there to get it going and I used the lot.

Any how. Thank you to Darren and all else involved in setting this up. A pleasure to be part of it and an honour to be in the first 'wave'.

EDIT - streuth , this Magnum is lingering and is VERY nice ( sorry , off topic but a boost for Darren;'s other products hopefully. ).

Thank you Simon, interesting that you could not get the Super Smooth to lather. What water type do you have there? What brush do use in terms of knot? I will try to replicate and make some tweaks. Thank you again. :)

Water is medium hard here apparently. Used a shavemac custom DO1. To be fair I had also had an outing on the Magnum and the Shangri La so perhaps I did not give it what it deserved . Maybe it needed more attention than the soaps. See what others make of it.

The DE has arrived along with a sample of the V2 Super Smooth, thanks Darron @Fox.

This evenings shave saw me test the Super smooth with my trusty DE89. A fresh clean but quite subtle scent from the packet. I think I've tried a sample of this scent before (South Sea Spray?). Although I'm not great with scents so don't trust me on that. A nice scent, but maybe a little milder than some of the 1912 range.

I put the whole sample into my bowl and lathered with my Cadman synthetic. Oh dear... should have only used half... way too much lather for one shave. Very easy to lather and it felt nice and thick on the face, maybe I should have added more water but I'd already got too much!

A good performance that I'd be happy to use again. Maybe little less slick than the 1912 but not by much. Possibly a little less residual slickness to the blade, although it still felt very slick rinsing between passes.

Looking forward to hearing the other testers thoughts.

Can very much agree with your review Damian..

I did a test lather earlier with the Super Smooth V2. It lathered dead easy and the scent was very familiar but mild. Sort of had a note or an accord that's in Magnum (to my nose) but no idea. It could well be Southsea Spray, but I've never tried it so can't say.
I didn't shave with it but really wanted to do a skin test and a test lather. Got a lot of lather with a badger knot (D01 2 band).
It seems more like a cream to me than a soft soap..but it performs well no question. It reminded me a bit of Bodyshop Maca Root cream but better.

Tomorrow I am really looking forward to 1912 Shangri La with matching balm.:woot:

Going to be using Shangri La for my shaves this month... Haven't shaved in October as yet because I knew this package was going to be arriving but I will give the Super Smooth V2 a runout and post back my thoughts later time permitting. Very nice shave! The scent once lathered reminds me of an expensive, clean, floral body lotion with nice hints of Fry's "Turkish Delight" , talcum powder and musk. Very clean and sophisticated. It could be unisex but smells very classy and inoffensive. Also reminds me of a few other scents that I can't bring to mind at the minute. It paired very well with a nice spray of Amouage's Lyric man.
Nice work Darron @Fox !
