I'm not super surprised that the Fougere Mania isn't flying off shelves. The unscented one did, however. Perhaps it's a sign A) that the price is too high and B) that a good chunk of people just don't like their scents in general, and won't be paying $30 for them.

Haven't received my Bare Siero yet. According to the tracking info it has left the USA on Saturday (yes, "Economy International" still has limited tracking info). If I'm lucky I'll receive it on Friday or so, but it's more likely I'll receive it next week.

With $25 for the unscented one he was already stretching it. And taking a risk on the scent for $30 is not something everybody wants to do.

In a way it might be a good thing if products with price increases which seem to reflect Venezuelan / Zimbabwean inflation rates flop as this might be deterrent for other producers considering following the same path.

Sri’s Lav Sublime was the only scent that worked for me. Soap makers often try too hard with scents. It gets silly sometimes what they come out with in order to keep up with the other kitchen/garage soap cookers.

Saying all that though delivery price of the Bare Siero (unscented) was worth it for me. Outstanding base alone and in the top 1-3 bases made today.

Interesting! Mine says it's in the UK, which I wouldn't have expected as you ordered yours before me. I'm expecting it this week hopefully. Kind of ironic that I bought this before I decided to go unscented.

It takes 14 days on average to receive my orders from Maggard Razors. Instead of flying straight to Belgium, the plane lands in either Poland or Portugal first for some reason.

I've finally just had my first face shave with Bare Siero. Karve C plate with a Personna Med Prep on its third use. No pre-shave soaps or anything like that so I can judge the soap on its own merits.

Firstly, this is a thirsty soap. I'd say it takes a bit more work to give it the hydration it needs compared to Milksteak. Once you get there though it's the lovely, glossy yogurty lather porn that you know and love.

As for the shave itself... It was great! The soap is very slick, protective and is easy to work with. I had a two pass shave with a bit of cleanup and no issues. What does stand out is the post shave, which is excellent. I always use a moisturiser anyway so post shave is never key for me, but this is one of the nicest ones I've had in a while. Smooth and silky, skin feels hydrated and nourished.

Comparing this to Milksteak is... Difficult. I don't think it's either better nor worse. They're both top tier bases. This unscented Siero base does, however, have a more notable note of animal funk to it and I'd be curious as to what the Milksteak funk is like. The smell does vanish while lathering. Anyway, a superb performer here and a killer post shave.

I wonder how much this base is changed from the previous bases? This sounds nice.
Having used that base I'd say this is an improvement in terms of slickness and post shave feel. It's marginal really as so many of these elite bases are deservedly considered top draw but I do think it's an improvement. I don't, however, think it's worth the price Sri is charging.

Another late night face shave with Bare Siero! Again, really enjoyed it. Super slick, lovely rich lather and that post shave feel is absolutely superb.

My only real issue is that animal funk coming off the base. It’s very barnyard in its scent. It does go away once you’re lathering but I’m not overjoyed with it overall. I’m eager to try the Milksteak unscented to compare.

It’s a great base and I’ve enjoyed using it so far. My tub is completely scentless. The soap can take on a lot of water and produces tons of lather. I still haven’t perfected the loading of it as I always wind up with tons of lather and have to keep adding tons of water. The quality of the shave and post shave though is great.

When you look at the price difference between PAAs CK6 soap base and their regular soap base the price rise doesn't seem that to bad

Interesting that yours has none of that funk that mine has. I’ll air it out all day and see if it disappears.
